Magnolia
Manor, in Mobile, Alabama rests majestically on four acres landscaped
with some of the finest Magnolia trees in Alabama .
The
15 room house is noted for its twinned semi-circular headed windows
and double leafed carved entrance doors. The second story front
facade has Palladian type windows. The complex front porch is
supported by colonettes made from single pine trees with square
corners and decorated with carved capitals. The original kitchen
area behind the main house was converted into a carriage house
which held a series of horse drawn vehicles. There is also a small
cottage located to the rear of the property.
In
1933, the house was purchased by Mrs. Maurine Haas. "The
Magnolias", as she named it, provided a charming background
for one of the finest collections of antiques along the Gulf Coast
. Magnolia Manor is now available for rental for weddings, receptions,
teas, private parties, meetings, or other social functions. Enjoy
Southern hospitality with the new owners Bettie Smith and Deena
Montgomery.
