The First Encounter

Chris and Peyton were introduced by a mutual friend, Jesse Beck, who appeared on “The Bachelorette” with Chris and “The Bachelor Pad” with Peyton. In August 2010, Jesse and Chris headed to Raleigh, NC to appear as celebrity guests at the Jimmy V Foundation Golf Tournament. Jesse reached out to Peyton as he remembered her hometown in east Tennessee was close to North Carolina. As it turned out, Peyton was in North Carolina celebrating her mother’s birthday.  Jesse invited her to come hang out since she was close by. After debating on whether she wanted to make the trip, Peyton decided last minute she would go because she had other friends in the area and this would be a good opportunity to see everyone before returning to Dallas.

Jesse and Chris were hanging out in their hotel room and Peyton came by to say hello. Chris answered the door and greeted Peyton with a huge hug. They both describe this moment as ‘love at first sight.’  Jesse, Chris and Peyton spent the afternoon together exploring the city and then met up with host, Chris Harrison, for the evening charity event. Chris and Peyton hit it off immediately and spoke every day following the event.

In Preparation

Chris and Peyton knew from the start they wanted a beach wedding. Growing up, Peyton and her family used to vacation at Wild Dunes in South Carolina, and she thought it could be a perfect wedding locale since everything could be held right there on site. When Chris saw it, he agreed as well.

The Big Day

At the reception, there was a cocktail hour with white sangria in a nod to Cinco de Mayo. Chris and Peyton are big corn hole fans, so Chris and his dad built special corn hole boards and personalized them with a wedding logo.  They played at the “welcome dinner,” and at the wedding reception, they had wedding guests sign them in lieu of a guest book. In addition to a wedding cake, they served mini pies and banana pudding parfaits.

The Retreat

Chris and Peyton have yet to go on a honeymoon because they’ve been busy taping new episodes of their show “Going Yard” for HGTV.  They did enjoy a week of R&R in Charleston following the wedding and look forward to heading off on a proper honeymoon to a warm weather locale this winter as a break from the chilly temperatures in Cape Cod.

From One Bride to Another

Don’t forget to live in the moment during the ceremony and reception.  At this point, what is, is, and it will go by so fast – just take a deep breath and enjoy!
