Happy New Year! It’s 2012 and we are so excited for what this year has in store and all the fabulous inspiration we look to bring all of our Southern Brides!

Our first trend topic this year has to do with wedding gowns. One popular trend we expect to see in 2012 when it comes to wedding gowns are gowns with an open back! While we have been seeing some open back wedding dresses over the years, some of the new designs will make this romantic look even more desirable for brides!

An open back dress can be classic and sexy at the same time. The front can have your classic look, while the open back will make such a statement as you walk down the aisle and later at your reception during your first dance! This style of dress also makes for some of the most stunning bridal portraits!

An open back dress is perfect year around, but we think they are especially beautiful for summer and beach weddings! But designers are making open back dresses for 2012 in a variety of styles and for all seasons!

Who doesn’t just love a little BLING for Christmas? And by bling . . . . we mean a RING! Here are some of our favorite ring shots by Christen Jones Photography!

  Local television celebrity, Jeh Jeh Pruitt, heading the line-up as the 2012 emcee!

  Rhythm N’ Motion will get things kicked into high gear. They’ll start off with an exhibition, performing specially choreographed “first dances,” then they’ll show everyone some of those special (and fun) dance moves for the wedding party that have gone viral on You Tube these days.
• 
  Be sure to take a notebook and pen, because you’ll definitely want to take note of all the great tips when speaker Alene Gamel presents Now That You’ve Got Your Bling, What’s The Next Thing?(Isn’t that a great title!) Alene Gamel of  I Do, I Do! Wedding Planning and Consulting  is an amazingly talented planner and is known for knocking the sox off of brides, grooms and guests when it comes to here wedding designs! She was trained in Los Angeles, has over 25 years experience in the wedding planning industry, and writes a regular wedding column, Weddings 911, which appears each Sunday in The Birmingham News. Having worked in the travel industry as well, Alene has traveled to many of the popular honeymoon and destination wedding spots. (Lucky lady!)

  Andy Tolar at Design Productions, LLC will be there and he will also be lighting up the runway for The White Rooms New York fashion show. Design Productions, LLC uses lighting to transform ballrooms, landscapes, and tents into a romantic environment. Columns of light, fiber optic curtains and the projection of names or initials are just a few of the services that they have provided for weddings.

  Last but certainly not least,  Melissa Moore Bogardus and her team will bring fabulous runway looks to all of the gorgeous models! Melissa is a hair and make-up artist obsessed with creating the perfect look. She loves fashion and gets her inspiration from faces. She has a Master of Cosmetology, has trained and worked as a freelance artist in venues such as Birmingham Alabama, Las Vegas Nevada, Nashville Tennessee, and Miami Florida. She works in TV, film, print and fashion shows, but pageantry and weddings are her true passion. She is also the official beauty sponsor for Mrs. United States of Alabama and has been since 2001.

Weddings this time of year are some of the most beautiful! Many brides choose colors that compliment the season: black and white, deep plum, royal red, silver and gold, and beautiful shades of green! All of these colors make for a stunning winter, holiday wedding!

Christen Jones Photography recently captured a beautiful wedding in downtown Memphis at the magnificent Cadre Building and the bridesmaids were grand in this stunning shade of green!

This particular shade of green is perfect for Fall and Winter weddings! The style is also great because it allows the ladies to wear the dress again if they have a formal event! I know if I had this dress – I would be wearing it again!

Green is also a great color that allows you to mix in other colors easily. Here shades of yellow, red and orange blend well for a Fall wedding. Browns, blacks, and classic white would also work beautifully with this shade of green! Not to mention that this shade makes for some beautiful, eye catching photos – and especially makes the bride stand out in her white gown!
