The Galatoire’s History
Founded in 1905 by Jean Galatoire, this infamous address distinguished itself on Bourbon Street from its humble beginnings. From the small village of Pardies, France, Jean Galatoire brought recipes and traditions inspired by the familial dining style of his homeland to create the menu and ambiance of our internationally renowned restaurant. In our fifth generation, it is the Galatoire family and descendants who have carried the tradition of New Orleans’ fine dining restaurants and influenced its evolution. Our culinary customs and reservation statutes have been preserved with little change throughout the decades. In April 2013, we added a steakhouse to our family of restaurants with the opening of Galatorie’s 33 Bar & Steak next door to the original Galatoire’s on Bourbon Street. The restaurants are now owned and partly operated by several descendants of the Galatoire family.

Every aspect of our private dining is in harmony with the memorable experiences guests have enjoyed at the restaurant for generations. We can host groups anywhere from 10 – 170 guests for a seated event, 250 guests for a reception style event or even larger groups with a restaurant buyout. “Finding the perfect venue for your event can be difficult and the planning process can be intimidating,” said Lisa Larsen, Director of Sales. “We’re here to take that stress away.
