Rossano Ferretti, a leading luxury hair care brand who have styled the likes of Kate Middleton, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lawrence, have conducted a brand new study to reveal the best bridal hairstyles for each dress neckline ahead of peak wedding season.
Alongside this, Rossano Ferretti shares his optimal pre-wedding hair care routine to ensure hair stays shiny and healthy ahead of the big day.
Off the shoulder
For an off the shoulder neckline, Rossano Ferretti comments,
“This timeless style deserves a timeless hairstyle to complete the look. I’d recommend any brides with this neckline to consider either a delicate fishtail braid, or an elegant half-up, half-down style to add fluidity to your hair.”
Sweetheart
A sweetheart neckline is one of the most popular wedding dress styles, with over 1,600 Google searches each month for “sweetheart wedding dress” in the US.
Sweetheart necklines can be incorporated into a number of styles, such as off the shoulder or strapless, but to match to your hairstyle to this design, Rossano Ferretti suggests opting for either a stylish french braid, classic low bun, or loose, bouncy curls to add movement to your hair.
V neck
This dramatic neckline should only be matched with an equally dramatic hairstyle on your wedding day, says Rossano Ferretti. The hair expert suggests styling a low ponytail to keep your hair away from your face, and not to overpower the statement dress. Other styles to consider for this neckline are the very bridal milkmaid braid, or half-up, half-down.
Square
The sophisticated and timeless style of a square neckline is best suited to a slicked back ponytail, according to Rossano Ferretti, to allow the dress to take center stage. If you’d prefer a more freeing style, the half-up, half-down hairstyle and loose relaxed curls are also effective in completing your bridal look.
High neck
Wedding dresses with a high neckline require careful consideration when it comes to hairstyles. Rossano Ferretti recommends keeping hair away from your face in either a Chignon styled bun, wrapped ponytail or centre braid.
Rossano Ferretti’s pre-wedding haircare checklist
On a day where you want your hair to shine the brightest and perfectly complement your bridal look, it’s important to take great care of your hair in the lead up to your wedding day.
Rossano Ferretti comments,
“My advice for any brides-to-be is to carefully choose which hair products you use in the lead up to your big day. Avoid using products that you aren’t familiar with, and always consult with a hair care professional to avoid an adverse reaction.
“My pre-wedding haircare checklist includes scalp exfoliating treatments to remove dead skin cells and promote healthy hair regrowth, followed by a nourishing and hydrating hair mask to lock in healthy oils and keep your hair shining.
“Don’t forget to regularly visit the salon in the lead up to your big day. Having regular trims can help to reduce the chance of having split ends or breakage. If you do find that your hair is damaged, and split ends become visible, I recommend using our Regenerating Oil to continuously repair and renew damaged hair.
“And avoid using as much heat on your hair as possible for a few weeks leading up to your wedding. If you do need to apply heat to your hair, use a heat protectant spray generously, making sure your ends in particular are thoroughly coated.”
