The first dance is one of the biggest parts of your wedding. Slow dancing with your groom in front of your entire wedding party and guests sounds nerve-racking, but comforting at the same time. Song choice is beyond crucial for every bride and probably something you spend months considering.

The three weddings I attended in 2015 were gorgeous, but they all seemed to have a common denominator, John Legend. Don’t get me wrong, the first time I heard “All of Me” I sobbed like a baby, but there’s not one person who doesn’t know the song. Both the sweet ballad and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” were a little overplayed in 2015.

Make your first dance a song that you and your precious groom have listened to your entire relationship. A song that is special to you as a couple! A melody that catches your attention every time it randomly plays on your iTunes playlist 10 years down the road. You want a song that makes you weak in the knees every time you hear it and takes you back to your wedding day, aka the best day ever.

We did some research and found the most perfect indie/unpredictable songs for your upcoming 2016 wedding. Songs that are beautifully sung and remind you of the reason you fell in love.
