We are excited to spotlight Tristan Cairns this week! Tristan is a talented photographer out of Salem, Alabama. As a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, he has won numerous awards and recognitions. Though he lives in Alabama, he doesn’t mind traveling to your event to capture your big day. Inspired by his grandfather, Tristan has developed an incredible eye for photography. Any bride would be lucky to have him on her team on her wedding day!
Tristan’s photography style incorporates vibrant color, beautiful contrast, and tasteful, flawless retouching. While he doesn’t follow the trend of using natural lighting and no editing, he uses his talent to turn your wedding photographs into beautiful, one-of-a-kind works of art. Of course, we know every bride wants their own unique personality to shine through. He is able to capture this by not giving suggestions to wardrobe, props, or poses. “I have found that couples don’t need direction when their comfortable. So my job is to make them feel comfortable and relaxed so that their own personalities shine forth.”
Tristan travels far and wide to capture a bride’s special day. “My favorite wedding was shot in Paris. A couple from South Carolina hired me to capture their small wedding underneath the Eiffel Tower. It was a quite, intimate wedding where I had the pleasure of spending the whole day with them afterwards traveling around the city taking pictures.” While we’re on the topic of favorites, Tristan’s favorite moment to capture is the reception. “At the reception I’m free to be as creative as I want to be. All the pressure is off and I can add funky lighting, different filters, experiment with different exposures, etc.”

His biggest advice to any bride is “make sure you’ve hired an experienced, seasoned photographer who knows all the ends-and-outs of photography and who knows how the wedding day is suppose to flow. Don’t waste your time and money on someone who just bought a camera from Best Buy and wants to now label themselves as the area’s NEW Premiere Photographer. ‘Beginner Photographers’ are the one’s who will ruin a brides day because of the lack of confidence and experience that they have. Sure, they may cost less, but you’ll pay more later in ways you wish you hadn’t.”
