Elizabeth Turner and Michael Goethe married at a beautiful forest wedding in the fall of 2021 in Newnan, Georgia. The couple chose a private residence on the lake to have the wedding and spent months planning vintage details. Guests were led down a forest trail to get to the ceremony and were greeted by an owl on the way. Wedding planner Johnnie & Co. Events helped turn a private residence into a beautiful venue for over 100 people. The couple’s Great Pyrennese, Bronson, even got to make an appearance at the wedding.
For her grand entrance, Elizabeth glided into the ceremony in a canoe. Michael’s face lit up when he saw Elizabeth walk down the aisle, and the two used the natural beauty of the forest as the backdrop in their ceremony. After, they had a sweet reception after with fall-colored florals from Melanie’s Garden and entertainment from Ballroom Blitz Events. Elizabeth and Michael’s ended the night at their grand exit with sparklers.
WHAT WAS THE PREPARATION LIKE?
It was a true family affair. We spent months gathering beautiful vintage details like gold tapers and vases and hand crocheted doilies. My brother made a miniature bride and groom to top the wedding cake out of pinecones. It was hosted at the lake house I grew up in and truly felt like the perfect day.
TRADITIONAL VOWS OR YOUR OWN?
We wrote our own vows and exchanged them in the middle of our forest.
LATE NIGHT SNACK?
Fresh shucked oysters!
FURRY FRIENDS ON YOUR BIG DAY?
Furry friends were a huge part of our day. Our wedding was on a beautiful fall day on the lake, so furry friends were a huge part of our day. Our Great Pyrenees, Bronson, was there at the alter with us and looked as dapper as ever. AWARE Wildlife Center, an amazing local Georgia nonprofit that rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife was able to join us as well, and greeted guests as they entered the ceremony (via a trial leading to a perfect spot in the forest by our lake) with one of their owls!
