The First Encounter
It was a Saturday morning and Ronnie and I were rushing around (per usual) to go out for brunch. I was getting ready when Ronnie asked me to grab something from our son’s room. I ran in there to find Dominic in his crib and a black box on the changing table. I walked over to open it and inside was the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen. I turned around and Ronnie was on one knee. Having him propose in our home and hearing him say such sweet words of love with Dominic to witness was perfect.
Ronnie and I were born and raised in Chicago, so when we started planning we agreed we wanted to change things up and do a destination wedding. We had done a lot of traveling through the years but one place had always stuck out to me, New Orleans. The food, music and people of New Orleans are incredible, we couldn’t have picked a better place to bring all of our family and friends for our wedding. We wouldn’t have been able to pull off all the details without my mom. She put her heart and soul into making sure we had everything accounted for and gave our guests such a special experience while they stayed in New Orleans for our wedding weekend.
The Big Day
The wedding day was the most fun I’ve ever had. I got to spend the entire morning getting dolled up with my best friends and family, Then put on a dress that I wish I could wear every day. I felt like a movie star getting fussed over. I got to listen to my hubby tell me how much he loves me while holding our son, and dance the night away with the people I love most in the world. Having a courtyard wedding gave it such a romantic, magical feel that surpassed all my expectations. The food was so delicious; you could see guests scurrying back and forth between songs to get another bite. Our guests are still raving about how awesome the Second Line was and how it was such an unforgettable experience.
We traveled to Saint Lucia for our honeymoon, and it was a perfect mix of lying around while getting in a little adventure. We stayed at the Viceroy Sugar Beach Resort, which was a great location for snorkeling and easy access to the Sulphur Springs, cocoa plantations, deep sea fishing, zip-lining, and venturing out to other tourist destinations on the island. Our room was situated on a hill with a private pool and an open view of a mountain; it was breathtaking.
