The First Encounter

Aaron and I love to travel. We took our first trip together to Keystone, Colorado several years ago, so it only seemed fitting that we would get engaged there as well. Aaron planned a ski trip to Keystone with a few of our closest friends. I thought nothing of it as we typically take a ski trip every year. On our second day of skiing, we took a break at the top of the mountain overlooking Lake Dillion, and he got down on one knee. He had one of our friends videotaping and a photographer to capture the special moment. The backdrop was stunning, and I was absolutely shocked. It was the second best day of our story.

In Preparation

Before we even got engaged, Aaron and I knew we wanted a New Year’s Eve wedding. We loved the idea of throwing a big party to ring in the New Year and our marriage. I couldn’t wait to start planning, so we immediately started looking at venues. I fell in love with the very first one we looked at. I, of course, looked at about 15 more just to make sure it was “the one.” The event space was stunning and had an awesome speakeasy-themed bar attached that we used for our cocktail hour. The attached bar may have won both my dad and my future husband over. After choosing our venue, everything else quickly fell into place.

The Big Day

The day started bright and early with mimosasthen hair and makeup. Once, we were ready, I had my first look with Aaron and then my dad. We braved the 30-degree weather for pictures (thank goodness for the fur!) Following our ceremony, we had a cocktail hour in the Kill Devil Lounge. During the cocktail hour, Aaron and I snuck away for some photos downtown. Walking into the reception took my breath away. It was so amazing to see all of the planning come together. There was no detail too small. The entire room sparkled (even the cake). The DJ allowed all of our guests to submit song requests ahead of time leaving our dance floor packed the entire night. Once the clock hit midnight guests were covered in glitter from the confetti cannon. We wrapped up the night with spiked milk, cookies and some of our other favorite late night snacks. I cannot imagine the day any differently. It was so fun to celebrate the New Year as husband and wife surrounded by all of our closest friends and family.

The Retreat

THE WAS MORE TO THE RETREAT BUT IT WAS CUT OFF IN THE GOOGLE DRIVE DOC Aaron and I honeymooned at the Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The weather and food were amazing. We spent the week relaxing, snorkeling and exploring Jamaica.
