Luck of The Irish
Aug 23, 2018
Cork , Ireland
While visiting home for the holidays, Stephen asked if I would show him this location I’d kept a secret for years that has an amazing view of the NYC skyline. I agreed, knowing that I could trust him not to spill the beans. Once there, he encouraged me to take a photo of us in front of such a beautiful view. After taking a few, he pointed out something “photobombing” our picture. As I zoomed in to see what had snuck into our picture, my heart filled with so much excitement; he somehow managed to sneak the ring perfectly between us. I looked away from the camera to see my love on one knee, asking my hand in marriage.
We knew we wanted a small, intimate wedding, surrounded by our loved ones as we unite our families and pledge our love to one another. I’d always wanted to visit Ireland, and he loved the idea of a destination wedding, so I began doing my research. For months, I studied Ireland – every venue, its history, surroundings, local vendors, accommodations and transportation; it was a bit overwhelming. That’s when I stumbled across Peach Perfect Weddings. I contacted Yana, the lead wedding planner, and gave her a few details of what I had in mind. She took care of finding the absolutely perfect location, the Glengarriff Lodge, and assembling an amazing crew for our wedding. I fell in love with the first dress I tried on and found the perfect boots to match on Amazon. Honestly, the most difficult part of preparing was finding a sage tie for my groom!
The Big Day
Our wedding day was an absolute dream come true. Since Yana had taken care of organizing all the details, including a time schedule for the day, we all had time to breathe and enjoy every moment as it happened. Most of our families were staying with us at the Lodge for the week leading up to our big day, so we all got ready together in the house. Nerijus of K Photography, as well as videographer Matthew Greer (Out of Mountain), arrived and began documenting our big day. Our caterer, ChefHire, went above and beyond – preparing a picturesque dinnerscape complete with wildflowers she’d found that morning that matched my color scheme. The bouquet Yana ordered was more beautiful than I ever could’ve imagined. I pinned a small horseshoe charm to my bouquet and walked with my father to the music of a lovely harp, down the pathway to marry my best friend.
Our honeymoon was quite a lovely adventure. In 8 days, we saw London, Paris, Algero, Rome …and a bit of Berlin, and Ireland again (long story… point is, avoid Ryanair.) We enjoyed each city in its own unique way. I’d been to London once before, but other than that, it was all new to both of us. If I had to choose though, and my husband would agree, nothing seemed to compare with the beautiful serenity of Ireland. We were in love with each other and together fell in love with The Emerald Isle. We couldn’t be happier with our entire wedding adventure.
