The Proposal

Darrel proposed to me on the evening of November 3, 2017. Upon arriving at his home for a relaxing dinner and Netflix, I was overcome by a living room full of the most gorgeous red roses I’ve ever seen in my life. And sitting right in the center of the coffee table next to a heaping vase of 3 dozen red roses was a giant Snoopy. Darrel and I share a love for the Peanuts gang, especially Snoopy. Then my eyes caught a glimpse of a beautiful gift bag that Snoopy was “holding”. Darrel prompted me to open the gift bag which held a cute pair of sunglasses, so I put them on!  A note attached said that “Our future is so bright that you’ll need these”. Then I found at the bottom of the gift bag was another wrapped gift. I opened it to find custom designed M&Ms inside that had our faces printed on them along with the words, “Will You Marry Me?” And before I could say a word, Darrel was on one knee with a ring in his hand asking me if I would marry him. I said “YES”!

In Preparation

Our wedding preparation took approximately 6 months. We knew that we wanted a small intimate family wedding with our children and parents, along with close friends. It was our greatest desire to give God honor and worship during our ceremony. We had so much fun planning every single detail together!

The Big Day

Our wedding day was truly all that I had ever dreamed it would be. We did not see each other until the actual ceremony. I arrived early to prepare and spend time with my daughters, son, and grandson. We had a beautiful vintage bridal room. Darrel enjoyed time with his childhood friends and our beloved pastor as he prepared for the ceremony. It was such a privilege to have Jeff & Rachel Thomas Photographers with us. They made everything special and such a joy it was to have them there! Rachel literally captured some of the most important moments with my family.

Everything was elegant and perfect. We hired an amazing pianist who performed our favorite songs throughout the ceremony. We loved taking communion with everyone there and having our children sing and share scripture readings during the ceremony was such a huge blessing.

Afterwards we celebrated with our guests by having a delicious Italian dinner. Then they cheered us on as we cut the wedding cake. Sparklers lit up the evening as we ran out of the chapel to the car, excited to start our life together!

The Retreat

We spent an amazing week in Kauai, Hawaii. It was the first time we had ever been there. We stayed at Marriot Beach Resorts and can’t wait to go back.
