The First Encounter

While on vacation in Chicago, IL in August 2016, Hayden and I rented bikes for the afternoon. We rode along Lake Michigan, stopped by the Navy Pier to ride on the Centennial Ferris Wheel and even stopped to eat a famous “Chicago Dog” from one of the local stands. We made our way to Millennium Park and took pictures at Cloud Gate, also known as The Bean. I was beginning to think our last day in Chicago could not get any better when Hayden asked if we could stop in front of Buckingham Fountain to take one last picture. At this stop, Hayden asked me to marry him! Of course, I said yes! That night we celebrated at a wonderful little Italian restaurant. Chicago will always hold a special place in my heart.

In Preparation

I began planning our wedding 11 months prior to our wedding date. We met with a few wedding planners, then met with M. Elizabeth Events and knew we had the perfect planner. The next decision that had to be made was our location. I knew as soon as I walked into Ross Bridge that I found the right spot. I had been envisioning my wedding ceremony and reception for quite sometime, so when we met with the florist, decorator and the event coordinator at Ross Bridge, I was prepared.

The Big Day

The morning was very peaceful, I was able to sleep in and then finish writing my wedding vows. When it was time for me to get my hair and makeup done, I joined my bridesmaids downstairs in our dressing room. I remember thinking the morning was a bit of a blur, until Hayden and I had “Our First Look.” We shared a very special moment when we decided to read our vows to each other. I will never forget being walked down the aisle by my father; I have never felt more beautiful and loved in my entire life. The Matron of Honor and Best Man gave toasts and my father surprised me by singing a song with our band during our wedding reception. I guess he had been secretly practicing. At the end of the evening, Hayden and I danced to one last song together. The band had learned to play one of our favorite songs and the ball room was completely empty, as all of our guests were preparing for our sparkler exit.

The Retreat

Immediately following our wedding, we went on a “mini-moon” to Orange Beach, Alabama. Our honeymoon had to be delayed because of my physical therapy school schedule. We are very excited to be able to indulge in a “second” honeymoon in just a few short months. Hayden and I will be traveling to the Sandals Grande Resort in St. Lucia to relax on the beach, enjoy the resort amenities and partake in some adventurous island excursions.
