The First Encounter

We are always very laid back with our plans, but on this particular night Parker was very specific about where he wanted to go. It was almost 10:00, and I told him that the restaurant would be closed by the time we got there – he just ignored me and said he “had the hook up”. Upon it being closed when we got there we decided to go to Sundance Square and walk around. Once there, Parker quickly left me standing on the sidewalk and one of the ten-year-olds from the baseball team he coaches seemingly appeared out of nowhere. The kid proceeded to walk me towards the fountains where Parker’ s team of children had created an path towards him against the backdrop of the fountains. Each kid handed me a baseball that led to the big question and ended with Parker on one knee! Parker had also been thoughtful enough to ask my very best friends to hide in the background to capture the special moment on film.

In Preparation

I’m a high school drill team director/dance teacher so I was very busy right up until the wedding. We got married the weekend after school ended and I was busy with my drill team kids right up to three days before the wedding! Although we did not technically hire a wedding planner, my mom, a lot of her friends, and family all helped A LOT in getting everything perfect. We hired a wedding day coordinator who was an absolute Godsend! She reminded us of details we would’ve forgotten in the craziness of everything. I had three wedding showers! One with my friends and family, one with Parker’s family in Indiana, and then one with my drill team girls, all of which were so special. But truthfully, my favorite part was once I found my dress – it finally felt real! Making final decisions were the hardest part but remembering that no matter what happened we would still be married at the end of the day helped me to stay relaxed.

The Big Day

My bridesmaids and I enjoyed breakfast and mimosas at a local hotel in Cleburne before meeting up with everyone at the venue. I had a minor catastrophe the day of because I couldn’t reach my hair lady! But Grand Slam Glam saved the day by doing my hair as well! Those beauty gurus did an awesome job of fitting everyone’s makeup to their preference and totally enjoyed getting ready with us. Parker and his friends just hung out and partied a little upstairs! Putting on my dress and shoes was a moment I’ll never forget. They were both SO BEAUTIFUL that I did not want to take them off. I honestly wasn’t nervous until right before I walked down the aisle but only because I hate the attention being totally on me! Once my dad & I started walking down the aisle my nerves melted away and I was focused on making it to Parker without falling – he looked so handsome! I also hadn’t seen any of the wedding décor until right before it started and it looked perfect! My wedding coordinator did a perfect job of keeping everything on schedule and the DJ kept the party going all night! The candy bar and the food were such a hit – honestly everyone loves fried chicken. We had a private dance after everyone cleared the venue (which I’d highly suggest) and then did a bubble exit! My photographer also did a great job of getting all of the shots we wanted and making everyone, and everything, look stunning!

The Retreat

We were so exhausted when we left the wedding, but had an early flight the next day to Riviera Maya, Mexico! I was excited to wear the “Bride” shirt my friend made me and the rinestone-encrusted shoes I bought during our travel. We were so tired that we just slept once we arrived, but the next day we enjoyed all the amenities our resort had to offer. Our room had its own infinity pool that connected to a lazy river, which then connected to a swim-up bar that we took full advantage of. This was the first adults-only, all-inclusive resort that either of us had been to and I would suggest it to everyone who wants a truly relaxing honeymoon. We even watched another wedding from the ocean! During our time there, Parker and I went to Xcaret and swam through caves and had dinner and a couples’ massage on the beach. During one of our last nights in Mexico, we went to Cirque du Soleil “La Joya” and had the best time! The food, acrobats, performers, and special effects of the show put it over the top! This was the best vacation I have ever been on, but of course the best part was that Parker and I were finally married!
