The Proposal

Ryan and I are both very close with our families, so when his family decided to celebrate Christmas in Nashville, we decided we should set up a dinner for both of our families to meet. Ryan’s family traveled to my parents’ home about two hours outside of Nashville for dinner the day after Christmas. Ryan wanted to exchange gifts with our parents, and to my surprise, he got me the best gift I could have imagined: a diamond ring. I will always be grateful that we were able to share such an amazing moment with the people we loved the most.

In Preparation

I knew that I did not want a long engagement, so after we got engaged on December 26, I shortly began calling venues in Nashville. I toured several gorgeous venues, but once I found Bagsby Ranch in Gallatin, I knew it was perfect. After we settled on our date and venue, we were able to start working on the other details: the photographer, flowers and dress to name a few. We were so blessed that in just a few short months we were able to pull together “the dream team” of vendors. I wanted our wedding day to be low stress, fun and personal, and all of my vendors were able to really bring that vision to life. My mother was my wedding planner, seamstress, dress consultant and personal crafter, and my day would not have been half of what it was without her help!

The Big Day

The day was amazing. I started my day by getting my hair and makeup done at our home before we were whisked off to the chapel for bridal pictures and our first look. Even though it was July in Tennessee, my photographer was able to make everyone look gorgeous (and not sweaty) in every picture. I thought when we first got engaged that I wanted to wait to see Ryan until I was walking down the aisle, but my photographer talked me into a first look. I will cherish that time with my husband along with the pictures forever. After our ceremony at the Belmont University Chapel, guests were bussed to our reception venue at Bagsby Ranch. The reception venue was perfectly decorated and paid tribute to all of the forces that have molded Ryan and I. My favorite piece of our reception was the entry table that was decorated with our parents’ and grandparents’ wedding pictures. We are both so blessed to have had wonderful examples of marriages, and we really wanted to honor those unions. After enjoying our wonderful, southern-inspired buffet, guests danced the night away to one of the best Nashville wedding bands, Band 24/7.  The night was filled with dancing, laughing and ended with Krystal Burgers being served on crystal platters.

The Retreat

We spent our dream honeymoon exploring Egypt and Greece. Ryan and I have a goal of visiting all the seven wonders of the world, so we celebrated our special day by visiting the Acropolis and the Pyramids. It was one of the most amazing and humbling experiences, and there is absolutely no one else I would have rather experienced it with.
