The Proposal

Lewis dragged me out on a dreary day under the impression that we were meeting his friends from out of town for dinner in the French Quarter. I wasn’t feeling great so needless to say, I wasn’t in the best mood that day. As we were waiting for his friends to arrive, he wanted to take a photo in our spot. Little did I know his friends weren’t coming. He grabbed who I thought was a random stranger to take our picture. The random stranger ended up being a friend of his which i didn’t know until soon after. While I was posing, he dropped to a knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely shocked me with the entire proposal. Meanwhile his friend who was suppose to be taking a picture got it all on video.

In Preparation

Even though we are both technically from Louisiana, most of our friends and family were going to be joining us in New Orleans from all over the world. We really wanted to make sure that this day was as fun for them as it was for us. To set the tone of casual fun we had our ridiculous save the dates and hand drawn wedding invites. When searching for wedding dresses I mentally prepared myself that I would be looking for a while to find the perfect dress. However I didn’t realize how soon I would find my perfect dress. From the the moment when I saw it, I was in love with it. It was the first one I had even tried on. We picked out our food, our cakes and made sure the music was going to be nonstop fun. Once it got down to the details such as flowers, décor and favors, we just let the professionals do their thing. I had a bit of anxiety putting all those details in someone else hands but they did such a good job of getting to know us that they knew just what we wanted.

The Big Day

It’s funny, you think you know how in love you are until your wedding day comes. The day began with my bridal party and I getting ready, putting on our dresses and taking tons of photos. Putting on my dress was something I’ll never forget because it was such a perfect moment. Meanwhile, the boys were taking their photos at the venue. Once it was time, Latrobe’s completely set the stage for the night. The organization, the lighting, décor, it all came together. Then, the music started and it was time for me to walk arm in arm with my dad down the aisle to my future husband. During the wedding we said our “I Do’s”, cried a little bit, and headed into the reception. We ate, drank, and then broke it down on the dance floor. We ended the night second lining down Royal Street with a Brass Band. It was . by far the best night of our lives.

The Retreat

Having heard several times that Vietnam is one of the greatest places in the world to eat, it was obviously our number one destination on our list to travel to. My dad is also from Cambodia, and I’ve never been. We decided since they border each other we would do one week in Vietnam and one week in Cambodia. We ate some of the best food we’ve ever had while staying at amazing resorts. We learned a great deal about both countries, celebrated the Cambodian New Year with a gigantic water fight in Siem Reap, and basically had the time of our lives. We are already counting down the days till we go back.
