The First Encounter

We visited Ashville for my birthday, and I had no idea he would propose that weekend. He planned to do it the day after my birthday at the Biltmore but was too nervous. This continued throughout the day. Every time he was going to do it, he chickened out. He ended up proposing at the very end of the night outside of Lex 21 (where we just had dinner) as our Uber driver was pulling up. It was simple and perfect.

In Preparation

Planning was a group effort by myself, mom, friends and family. My mom and I did the majority of all wedding preparations while Luci, owner of Glenn-Ella Springs Inn, handled all onsite details and coordination. She was a huge help in answering all of our questions about the venue, providing ideas, and a great sounding board. Family friends provided all the flowers and centerpieces (Kathy Simone and Maria Doring). It was very much a DIY wedding.

The Big Day

The leaves changed color just a few days before the wedding. It was overcast throughout the morning of the big day, but as soon as photos were about to start, the clouds opened up and the sun was shining for the rest of the day. All of the wedding party and immediate family stayed onsite at the Inn. It was a very relaxed day getting ready and spending time with one another. We had a first look in the garden that was intimate and magical. The ceremony took place, and we were married by my grandfather. Cocktail hour and appetizers were served while we wrapped up family photos. The pavilion was covered in lots of candlelight and beautiful flowers. Dinner was served, and drinking and dancing soon followed. We had an amazing band that had the entire wedding dancing until our sparkler send-off. We wished we could have danced all night long. We ended the night with the wedding party and family at a bonfire in the valley. It could not have been a more magical night.

The Retreat

We traveled to Grenada, the Spice Island, and stayed at the Sandals resort. The island was a mix of beautiful beaches, rolling hills, and jungle. We snorkeled, jumped off waterfalls, fed monkeys, kayaked and paddle boarded and enjoyed the food and drinks of the island. It was way too short of a trip but we had an amazing time together.
