The Proposal

Josh proposed to Helene on a walk with their rescue dog Macie, by their home on the Atlanta Beltline. It started out a typical Sunday spring morning for the couple until Josh got down on one knee in front of the scenic 04W park water fountain. They later went to nearby Hampton & Hudson in Inman Quarter to watch the Atlanta United game that Helene planned for Josh’s birthday, which turned into a surprise engagement celebration for the couple with their closest friends and family.

In Preparation

Josh and Helene knew they were ready to be married, and when they found an opening on Labor Day Weekend at a venue they both instinctively knew fit their personalities, they jumped on it. The couple was married within 5 months of their engagement, with all the months being busy, but fun! The couple was armed with a large group of great friends that were married in recent years, so they were critical to helping Helene find her dream dress, the best caterer in the city and feel loved with a shower and a bachelor/bachelorette party. The groom’s favorite part of planning was helping with the band’s playlist and food tasting, while the bride loved working on the design elements and keeping the couple in-budget and on-schedule. Helene’s sister-in-law and wedding coordinator were also largely instrumental in planning and day-of coordination!

The Big Day

The big day was everything we wanted! The ceremony was beautiful under the bright chuppah, representing our first home to welcome in loved ones. Our Rabbi married us, using my grandmother’s wedding band, but to keep with both our families traditions, we got married by both the rabbi and Josh’s family pastor (who became “clergy besties”). We had a fun cocktail hour, with DIY photo frames I made, southern apps (fried chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits in mason jars) and a delicious 3-course duel plated meal after by bold. We danced our first dance to Your Song, got the party started with Hey Ya in Atlanta fashion, went up in chairs for the Hora and danced the night away before a sparkler send-off

The Retreat

Josh and Helene spent a few relaxing nights at the Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee, had massages, enjoyed drinks at the infinity pool and had a private fireside dinner on the lake. Josh and Helene embarked on their delayed honeymoon to Hawaii in March. They visited Maui and the North Shore of Oahu where they watched the sunrise at Haleakala and biked and zip-lined down the summit. They relaxed at the beach, played golf, had lunch on the black sand beaches, and took a helicopter tour of the island.
