The Proposal
Hmm… a proposal? What’s that?! We had been together for about seven and a half years and occasionally talked about marriage — well, I talked about marriage— Siffredi would just nod and say, “yeah, yeah, in our future.” Until one day, in the summer of 2017, when I brought up the subject and Siff said something along the lines of “how about next year?” I was caught off guard and asked him to confirm what he had just said. Siff said, “yeah, let’s get married.” It was at that moment that we made it official and began brainstorming potential dates!

In Preparation
Before we decided to get married in Washington D.C., we reserved a church in our hometown – Miami. When we sat down and analyzed our budget, we realized that we would need to make sacrifices. That’s when we opted for an intimate wedding ceremony and prioritized what was most important to us was the location of our wedding. And what better place to tie the knot than in our favorite city. Though our ceremony vision changed, we decided to keep the same date we initially picked. We prepared a lot on our own. In hindsight, I would not do that again! That weekend I learned that I’m not a great delegator and had a couple of panic attacks. Thankfully we were fortunate to have had our day-of-coordinator and wedding vendors to help us on the big day. Everything went smoothly, and my anxieties were non-existent!

The Big Day
The weather was spectacular even though it had rained almost every day up until the night before. While my female entourage was getting ready, they took turns helping me finalize the garland for the reception table. That was the last detail we took care of before we handed everything off to Noelle, our coordinator. There were many moments of laughter, some tears, and a few surprises. The one time I recall being alone with my then-future-husband was during a portion of our first look photo sessions. The remainder of the day was spent surrounded by our parents, siblings, and closest relatives. We even shared the car ride to the ceremony venue with my parents, sister, cousins, and best friend. Thanks to our glam squad, photographers, and coordinator could forget about what needed to get done and truly disconnect to enjoy the day and be completely in the moment. It truly was magical.

The Retreat
Following our winter wedding, we enjoyed a summer-like honeymoon in Jamaica for ten days! Yes, we splurged on our honeymoon, and would do it again if we could! We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay and spent the entire getaway relaxing and soaking up each other’s company. We also spent a couple of hours reading to children at a local elementary school meeting in partnership with Sandals. Another highlight of our stay was an unexpected visitor in our room — one of the resort’s cats. We called her, “Kitty Mon.” She was pregnant and gave birth a few days before we left. The last two days of our trip were rainy, and she felt safe enough near us that she brought us her two newborn kitties! We created a little nook for them on our balcony away from harm and gave them endless cuddles, and love until our very last day.
