The First Encounter

Jake and I happen to be from the same hometown and even attended the same college. However, we didn’t begin to form a relationship until after we had graduated and he was attending Nurse Anesthetist school. Our friendship turned into dating, and that turned into love. The rest was history! Jake surprised me by orchestrating the perfect proposal in Central Park New York, while I thought I was on a Thanksgiving trip with my mother! He, along with both of our mothers, had planned a perfect evening with dinner and a Broadway show. I was shocked and overjoyed.

In Preparation

It had always been my dream to get married on my family’s Homestead in Savannah, Tennessee. My great grandmother’s home was built in the 1950’s and provided the perfect backdrop for our enchanted evening. To make this dream a reality, I enlisted the help of event designer Courtney Goolsby and we immediately got to work! It was very important to Jake and I that it felt like us. He played golf at the collegiate level and I held various titles within the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Program, so Sarah Wenzel of August Blume had a custom watercolor crest with the club and crown insignia created to be used throughout our invitation suite.

The Big Day

The day of our wedding was truly a gift from God. Under blue skies we repeated our vows to each other and before God with 500 of our friends in attendance. The ceremony was officiated by my childhood pastor, and our musical selections sang by close friends. Our ring bearer’s pillow was made from my great grandmother’s wedding dress, and the flower girls’ baskets were donned with grandmother’s lace. 100-year-old live oak trees held chandeliers to illuminate the lawn and tent area where guests enjoyed some of our favorite southern foods on colorful patterned china. We toasted and danced the night away to The Jimmy Church Band! After a sparkler exit, a 1965 Rolls Royce whisked us away to happily ever after!

The Retreat

Jake planned the perfect honeymoon to Sandals South Coast Luxury Resort in Whitehouse Jamaica. We enjoyed a week of beautiful beaches and being pampered, which is what a busy bride and nursing student needed! After our honeymoon we moved to Memphis, Tennessee to further our medical careers.
