The First Encounter
After searching all of the hiking trails around the greater Boston area, Patrick found the perfect tree located in a field with a low hanging branch that he could tie a swing onto since I love swings. On 10/23/17, Patrick took me to the swing that he had hung up after asking me to go for a walk. I thought nothing of it and started swinging back and forth…good thing he tied it to the tree tightly. Next thing I knew, he was on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him!
In Preparation
My wedding vision was clear: I wanted a southern wedding full of lace, pearls and simple elegance…and, of course, a monogram on everything possible! I fell in love with the city of Charleston ( and the quintessential Seabrook Island where Patrick’s vacation home is located ) after visiting a few times. Seabrook Island is picturesque and laid back, and I had confidence that all of our guests would have a wonderful time. We decided early on to work with Megan from Mingle Charleston for wedding planning. Megan was a great help and ensured that everything, from our First Look downtown to the reception at the Seabrook Island Club, went without a hitch. We really had a fairytale wedding that was beyond my dreams.
The Big Day
The day began at 7:30 a.m. with mimosas and pampering to ensure everyone looked their best. After having hair and makeup done with all of the bridesmaids, we departed for the first look in DowntownCharlestonn. Our first look could not have been more perfect or had a more perfect back drop for pictures. From there, the bridal party headed to the Charleston Tea Plantation for the ceremony, which was beautifully setup under their “Wedding Tree.” All of our guests arrived and were a testament to our vows. The reception began with a cocktail hour on Seabrook Island’s Clubhouse porch overlooking the ocean. We had perfect weather and a beautiful sunset. Dinner was served in the dining room and was closely followed by countless hours of dancing to Liquid Pleasure’s entertainment! We were set off by our guests at the end of the night to stay at the Sanctuary Hotel on Kiawah for a few days.
The Retreat
We are traveling to Hawaii in March 2018 for our honeymoon and will be staying at the St. Regis in Kauai for ten days. We have a few hikes, boat rides and adventures planned on the Island.
