The Proposal
Jacob and Kathryn met completely by chance during a surveying lab session on Samford Hall’s lawn. Very early in the relationship, Jacob and Kathryn elected to adopt a male Labrador Retriever, and eventually a female companion for him. The dogs love to fetch, and they love popsicles on Samford lawn. Jacob decided to propose to Kathryn on Samford’s lawn under the pretense that it was strictly to enjoy the afternoon with the dogs. After a few throws, Jacob threw a bumper that had “Will you marry me?” written on it and had the dogs bring it to Kathryn.
In Preparation
Jacob’s wish list was simple. He asked that the ceremony be held in Pensacola, and he asked that it planned for his seasonal dress uniform to be his choker whites. Kathryn’s primary concern was the reception entertainment; after all, the party is only as good as the band. Those wishes were fairly easy to accomplish, and everything seemed to fall in line.
The Big Day
The wedding day was a warm day following a week of storms. Although the couple had their “umbrella policy” to minimize any storm-related turmoil, the couple says that they feel that they got lucky, because the wedding day could not have fallen on a prettier day. Kathryn and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready, while Jacob and his groomsmen relaxed, snacked, and watched football. Jacob was very adamant about not seeing the wedding dress until the moment that Kathryn busted through the church doors, regardless of how much he knew that Kathryn detests surprises. However, when she saw the emotion in Jacob’s expression, Kathryn knew it had been worth the wait.
The Retreat
Jacob is in flight school for the U.S. Navy. The couple plans to enjoy their honeymoon after Jacob has completed his training. They have romantic ideas of traveling to Santorini, Greece. However, they are open to a broader travel itinerary across more of a Central European variety. They intend to remain flexible on big details until the time comes.
