The Proposal

Nathan and I decided to make a trip to New York in December to celebrate my birthday and Christmas. On the morning that he proposed, we were quite adventurous, we spent the day sight seeing. That night we went to Rockefeller Center to ice skate by the iconic Christmas tree. When we got to Rockefeller Center, Nathan asked to take a picture together under the tree. Just as we walked up, I was turned looking at all the grandeur, when Nathan got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. When I saw him on one knee, I was shocked but so excited!

In Preparation

Nathan and I decided we wanted a summer wedding so we chose to plan our wedding in 6 months. I was finishing up my last year of college and getting my teaching license so, needless to say those 6 months were very stressful! I could not have done it without my mom and sister helping me. They took charge and started calling all the vendors and putting together a board of ideas I had shared with them for our big day. They made our day absolutely perfect.

The Big Day

It was such a special day to marry the man of my dreams. On this day, Nathan and his groomsmen went out and played a round of golf while my bridesmaids and I ate a big breakfast and began starting on our hair and makeup. As the day went along, I couldn’t help but get more and more nervous. At around 1, we went to the venue and began taking pictures. The whole feeling was just surreal. Leading up to the ceremony, Nathan and I exchanged letters to one another, and I had my first look with my dad. As soon as he turned around we made eye contact, we both lost it. At 6:00 when it was time for me to walk down the aisle, I was by myself just waiting. We had to get started a little late because guest were still arriving. When I finally got to walk, I’ll never forget the moment that I made eye contact with Nathan. One of my most favorite but also most nerve-racking moments of the wedding came when we exchanged our own personal vows to each other. The wedding is also so meaningful because it was my uncle who led the ceremony. After the wedding, we celebrated by having a huge reception full of dancing, and great food.

The Retreat

For our honeymoon, we decided to take a 4-day cruise from Orlando to Cococay and Nassau. It was an amazing trip! We flew from Knoxville to Orlando to get on the ship and spent the rest of the day hanging around by the pool. The next morning we were able to spend the day on a private island in the Caribbean. It was so relaxing sit by the ocean with our toes in the sand! The next morning, we woke up the Bahamas. On this day, we explored Nassau and even went to Atlantis. While in the resort, we were able to swim with Dolphins and enjoy the massive pools in Atlantis. We spent the last day of our honeymoon on the cruise ship, enjoying great food and great entertainment provided by Royal Caribbean.
