The Proposal

Anthony proposed to Lauren a few days after Christmas, the day she flew out to Long Island to spend a few days with him and his family. He surprised her by having her best friend that she hadn’t seen in about a year fly out as well. Anthony and Lauren and a few friends and family drove out to Montauk to see the lighthouse, which they do every year, and he proposed to her by the beach in front of the lighthouse, while their friends waited with champagne and flowers to celebrate!

In Preparation

Anthony and Lauren are both active duty members of the Navy and were stationed on opposite coasts during their engagement. Lauren was in California for training, while Anthony was in Florida for flight school, training to fly helicopters. Choosing a location for the wedding seemed difficult with them so far apart and their families living in different states, but they ultimately decided on Lauren’s home state of Georgia. Lauren was lucky that her mother was so helpful in the wedding planning process because planning a wedding from over 2000 miles away was not easy. Spread across the country, Lauren and Anthony were successfully able to plan their dream wedding with the help of Lauren’s mom, and it was everything they could have hoped for.

The Big Day

Lauren and Anthony tied the knot on September 22, 2018, at the Gainesville First United Methodist Church, and had their reception at the Chattahoochee Country Club on Lake Lanier, GA. The got married in the late afternoon, and the weather was perfect; the temperature was warm and the skies were clear. Following the church ceremony, Anthony had 8 of his close friends in the Navy conduct a ceremonial sword arch as the bride and groom exited the church. Then everyone headed to the reception for great food, dancing, and a lot of fun. Friends and family flew in from all over the country, from California, Florida, Maine, New York, and Lauren even had a friend surprise her and fly in from Guam. The wedding was the best night of Lauren and Anthony’s lives, and the most fun they’ve ever had. They spent the night dancing to excellent music and partying with the people closest to them, and could not have asked for a more perfect wedding to celebrate their marriage.

The Retreat

Lauren and Anthony spent their honeymoon at the Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas for a week. They had to delay their honeymoon until the end of October due to military training, but it was well worth the wait. The weather was perfect the entire time, so they were able to make the most of the beach and fun activities such as volleyball, paddle boarding, and snorkeling. Anthony is a certified SCUBA Dive Master, and he convinced Lauren to get dive certified during the honeymoon. They were able to do 6 dives during the honeymoon, which was the highlight of the week, and swam with rays, sea turtles, and sharks. Overall, they had the most perfect honeymoon!
