We were in London with my family on a summer vacation going around and seeing all of the wonderful sites that the city has to offer. One of our stops on the second day of the trip was a private tour of St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was beautiful. After some pre-planning with my family, that I was unaware of, Taylor was able to get me alone at the end of the tour. When I turned around to see what was going on, he was down on one knee and asking me to marry him.
The preparation was spearheaded by my mom who had a fabulous vision to turn downtown Sumter into a garden party. She and her team- me and Taylor being included- worked over 8 months to make the vision come to reality. We worked with some of the most talented people in Sumter who turned our venue into the garden party that she was envisioning and that I dreamed of.
The Big Day
Words can’t describe how perfect the wedding day turned out to be. While I spent the day with my bridesmaids getting pampered, Taylor and his groomsmen enjoyed a pool-side cook-out at my brother’s house. During the ceremony the sun shined perfectly on us through the stained-glass windows in the church, creating the perfect atmosphere. We kicked the reception off as a brass band played our first dance song. From there we snuck away to have a quick private meal with each other before the party began. Both of our brothers made heartfelt speeches before we cut the cake and spent the remainder of the night dancing to the awesome band and enjoying the rooftop bourbon tasting. When it was time to exit, Main Street Sumter was lined with our guests and their sparklers as we got into a classic 1930’s sports car and pulled away.
We flew out first thing the next morning to spend a week at an all-inclusive resort on the South Coast of Jamaica. Taylor and I relaxed on the beach and didn’t have a single worry all week. While there, we also went on excursions through the jungles of Jamaica that were unbelievable and sailed off the coast for some fun in the sun. We were very thankful for the opportunity to get away as husband and wife and look forward to our next tropical vacation!
