The Proposal

Derek proposed July 3rd, the day before my birthday, on a beach trip with some of our closest friends. He pulled me aside that morning and asked if we could spend some alone time together that day. So we set out to explore downtown, go to brunch, and stroll on the beach. We walked along the water for a while, when stepping off the beach I bent down to put my shoes on and when I turned back around he was on one knee. He said how much he loved me and asked me to spend forever with him. We celebrated with champs and fireworks. Best Birthday Ever!

In Preparation

Working alongside a planner made the planning process enjoyable, celebratory, and smooth-sailing. From the very conception we knew we wanted a French Country theme. We incorporated Derek’s love for flying (he’s a C-130 pilot) and service to our country, as it’s a huge part of who he is; our motto was “let’s fly away”, which was seen in our photo booth’s neon-light sign, our custom C-130 cookie favors and favor tags, etc. We went with an all-white modern, yet timeless approach. We used pastels- lavender, pale peach, muted blush- to add a little color, which was mostly seen in the floral. Our vendors went above and beyond, bringing our vision to life.

The Big Day

The day started with champs, of course, because how else do you kick off a celebration? The first look was more than I could have imagined, as it was an emotionally raw reveal. The ceremony took place overlooking one of the most scenic views Arkansas has to offer. We had an intimate seated dinner, complete with string lighting, live acoustic entertainment, and warm candlelight. Bottles of wine welcomed guests at their tables, and the light rain against the tent created the best ambiance. A toast from the Father of the Bride transitioned us indoors, where we danced the night away to a live band. At the night’s end, guests were given clear umbrellas and a ride in style back to the hotel.

The Retreat

Derek and I decided to continue with our French Country theme and headed to the South of France for our honeymoon. We spent 9 amazing days traveling to different cities and towns sipping Rose, eating spectacular food and immersing ourselves in the French culture. Our favorite city to visit was actually not next to the sun & sea, but further inland in a town called Uzes. Uzes is more authentic than what you find on the coast, with cobblestone streets, open air markets, and a beautiful countryside for long hikes. The South of France stole our hearts and we can’t wait to visit again.
