The Proposal

Grant proposed around Christmas time in 2016. That year we drove to Clarksville, TN to celebrate Christmas with Grant’s family. When we turned onto the road Grant’s family home is on, all I could see were Christmas lights. Grant had put them up on the trees in the backyard, along with lanterns and a teepee that he built himself. Under the lights and the stars in his backyard, he asked me to marry him and I said yes! We danced and laughed and then we drove to Nashville where all of our friends and family were waiting to celebrate with us. Best night ever!

In Preparation

I had worked in event planning before, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted for our wedding. Even so, I knew I would need the help of a planner to make our dreams a reality. After speaking with Ashley Bourque of Chancey Charm I knew she was the perfect fit for us. We decided to get married in the church Grant had attended growing up; the same place his parents had gotten married 39 years before. From there, we decided to have the reception at Grant’s home because we knew it would be so special. We wanted the day to represent who we are so we chose elements that did just that, such adding Dr. Pepper to the bar menu, serving late night Panda Express, and finishing the night with a lightsaber send off!

The Big Day

Our wedding day was everything we ever dreamed of. It was peaceful and full of true joy, and though everyone says “it will fly by” I remember every detail. The bridesmaids and I got ready wearing matching t-shirts that said “After This We’re Dancing in the Moonlight” and watched Father of the Bride while we got ready, while the guys watched soccer, played cards and each got socks that represented them. We opted for a first look so that Grant and I could share that moment alone, and so that we could be sure to remember it. Our ceremony was traditional and represented our faith and love for each other so perfectly. The reception was the time of our lives! There is something about celebrating your lives joining together with everyone you know and love that is truly immeasurable and unmatchable and we will never forget the feeling we had that day

The Retreat

We chose a cruise to Mexico for our honeymoon because we had been one before and loved it! After a year and a half of wedding planning, we didn’t want to have to spend too much energy planning a honeymoon. The ship left from New Orleans so we went a day early to enjoy and explore the city. We stayed at a boutique hotel in the French Quarter called Q&C Hotel and Bar. We spent our time in New Orleans eating eggs benedict at Ruby Slipper and beignets at Café Du Monde and walked around the city until it was time to board the ship. The ship ported in Cozumel and Progresso.
