The Proposal

We have been best friends for over 27+ years! We had always had a thing for each other and I guess now was the right time for us! We were headed on vacation to wine country in Napa, California. I was born in California and own the houses that I grew up in. I wanted to show Travis my hometown and the first house we stopped at, I was walking around pointing things out to him and I turned around and he was on one knee. He said, I wanted to bring you to the place where your life began and ask you to spend the rest of your life with me. I cried and cried and of course, said yes!

In Preparation

We love to entertain so I was really looking forward to planning our beautiful wedding. Unfortunately, suddenly and tragically my brother passed away a few months before the wedding. I was heartbroken and devastated to say the least. That is when I got in touch with Daria at Circle of Love Weddings and she helped to keep me organized and focused. She is a true lifesaver and I would recommend her to anyone! I wanted my brother’s presence to be prominent so as a groomsman we used a goat skull (he has a lot of goats!) draped in flowers for his spot. We wanted to have the rehearsal dinner at Bar Margot at the Four Seasons and the Fox Theatre was the perfect fit for the ceremony and reception. We have attended countless concerts and plays at the Fox and the Moroccan décor is just stunning and felt like the perfect spot!

The Big Day

The theme was simply our favorite things. My beautiful stepson was the ring bearer and our daughter was the main flower girl who was pulled in a white wagon wearing custom made feather angel wings. For me, I am a dancer and wanted bellydancers, henna artists, lots of dancing and comfort food (we had a comfort food bar with martini glasses to fill with mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, fried chicken etc.) As for Travis, as a drummer, he sat in with the band Yacht Rock Revue and played a drums with them. His main food request was all seafood, so we had a large cold seafood bar. Our goal was to make our wedding more like a concert than a wedding. As gifts, we gave captain’s hats and glow sticks to everyone to give it that concert vibe. The place cards were designed after Ticketmaster tickets. We also had an artist Frenchy who had live painted Travis during a concert before, also live paint our wedding and reception.

The Retreat

The Royal Mansour in Marrakesh, Morocco treats you like royalty. We stayed in a huge riad, went shopping in the markets, saw belly dance shows, marveled at the architecture, toured the YSL gardens, took a camel ride and even rode in a hot air balloon. It was pure magic! The next stop was St Tropez where we ate tons of fresh seafood, hung out at fabulous beach clubs, shopped til we dropped and went to see dinner and shows. One in particular was L’Opera for dinner, a show and then it turns into a night club. I highly recommend it!
