The Proposal

On November 17, 2017, Hall took me to his parents’ lake house in Arkansas, where most of our early dating memories were made. Before the family dinner, we stopped at a treehouse on the lake that we both have always wanted to go inside. The treehouse was also on DIY’s Treehouse Masters! Once inside, I realized Hall had already been there because it was decorated so beautifully with candles! When I turned around, he was on one knee and asking me to marry him at sunset! Soon after, he surprised me, yet again, with an after party full of family and friends at a 100 year old mansion that’s close by! It was absolutely perfect.

In Preparation

The wedding planning process was so exciting, but there were more details involved than I ever had imagined! However, like any girl, my first thought was my wedding dress appointment. I went to Maggie Louise in Collierville, TN with my mom, mother-in-law, sister, and best friend! This was one of my favorite parts of the entire wedding process. Once we got the dress, we visited the Memphis Botanic Garden and I immediately fell in love with having a garden wedding. I booked it right then and there and got to work with their event planner, Katie Lipscomb. Later, we booked the catering with Cindy Krag, the flowers with Southern Bloom, and the photography with Jacqueline Fuggatt. Once all of the big decisions were made, we planned out all the fine details. We knew that we wanted an elegant, whimsical, family style wedding, and with all of these vendors, we got just that.

The Big Day

Our wedding day was so beautiful and filled with so many memories. The ceremony was under a clear tent so the sun could shine through with an arbor of flowers at the end of the isle while stringed instruments were played in the background by our friends. Hall and I decided to save our first look for when I walked down the isle, and the way he looked at me is a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life. The reception was held in Hardin Hall at the Botanic Garden. When the guests arrived, they were given hors d’oeuvres and drinks prior to our family style dinner where everyone had a seat at the table. We wanted the reception to feel like a Thanksgiving feast as they all passed the platters of food around to one another. We also had live music from Will Tucker, and danced for hours. It was such a special night to our family and the two of us.

The Retreat

For our honeymoon, we went to El Carmen in the Dominican Republic and stayed at the all-inclusive Excellence Resort! Our room had an upstairs with a plunge pool and a private balcony overlooking the ocean. We then had a couple’s massage, private dinner on the beach, and ate at several different style restaurants throughout the week! We took an excursion to a private beach where we drove what the locals called “boogies.” We also got to sail and snorkel in the Caribbean and swim in a gorgeous cave.
