The Proposal

Monica and Cole were on a trip to San Diego, California, when Cole popped the question. Cole suggested that Monica and her friends take some photos on the beach and asked Monica to go collect the camera he had brought along, which was still in the car. Cole then secretly passed the camera (that he had all along) to their friends. While Monica and Cole were walking back to the car, Cole dropped down on one knee and proposed! Their friends captured the moment perfectly.

Monica and Cole were so thrilled to be engaged that they decided to elope one month later and exchange vows between just the two. However, they also wanted to host an official wedding to celebrate with their friends and family by their side. Monica and Cole drove to Western North Carolina to tour venues, and when they arrived at Castle Ladyhawke, they immediately fell in love with the space. Monica led the remainder of the preparation and sourced the other vendors, which included a fabulous event planner, Carolina Love Events, so they could be sure to enjoy their big day stress-free. They envisioned a fall wedding and chose Natasha Dale Photography to capture the wedding and the area’s natural beauty.

The Big Day

Monica and her bridesmaids enjoyed getting ready in the beautiful bridal suite on the morning of the big day. They drank champagne, danced around, and reminisced about all of their years of meaningful friendship. Cole and his groomsmen played pool and poker in the groom’s suite before he met Monica for their first look and private vows. They expressed their love for each other and how patience and kindness were vital. The reception and music were unforgettable, which included dancing the Hora. Seeing the joy and laughter among their guests is a memory they will forever cherish.

The Retreat

The newlyweds flew to Milan shortly following the wedding and spent a week in Lake Como, Italy. They enjoyed the regional cuisine and wines, breathtaking scenery, and relaxing after months of planning and wedding festivities. Monica and Cole also toured medieval castles in neighboring Switzerland, and leisurely boat rides to the towns and villages around Lake Como. Monica and Cole did their best to immerse themselves fully into the local culture and soak it all in. It was such a magical honeymoon. They predict they will share their unforgettable memories with their future grandchildren.
