The First Encounter
Since we had been dating for 9 years, I really wasn’t expecting a proposal when it happened. He planned a last minute New Years Eve trip with our friends to Key Largo. We ended up not arriving until 4:00AM so we were super exhausted when we got there. When everyone woke up that morning, we were hanging out by the pool and he proposed by the ocean. Our friends were in on the secret!
We had 8 months to plan our wedding. We knew immediately we wanted to have it at his childhood home because it is very sentimental for both of us. We are so glad we did. We are so lucky to have such loving family that jumped in and helped to prepare for the big event.
The Big Day
I started the day at the salon with my bridesmaids where we got our hair and makeup done. After that we headed out to the house where we took lots of pictures, got dressed, and enjoyed each other’s company. Everything seemed perfect. The ceremony, the reception, the food, the decor, the music. I’m sure it wasn’t but it sure felt that way. Luckily the weather cleared up for us. The day before we had remnants of Hurricane Harvey rip through our city. Needless to say we were a little worried.
A little secret…we had no honeymoon planned. We were married on Saturday and decided where we were going on our Honeymoon on Monday. We decided on Sedona, Arizona. It was perfect. Very relaxing and beautiful scenery. Just what we needed. We actually plan on going back very soon we enjoyed it so much.
