The Wingate Place in Johns Island, South Carolina, is the ideal spot for a lowcountry wedding, originally being part of the colonial Brick House Plantation of Johns Island. A successful producer of sea island cotton, changed hands several times over the years. It fell into disrepair following the Civil War, and the land was divided and sold. This wedding venue represents the largest, undeveloped, intact parcel of the original plantation. The quaint farmhouse on the property was built in the 1930s.
Today, the farmhouse serves as a dressing area for the bride and her wedding party. The ceremony takes place under a stately oak tree draped with Spanish moss on the banks of a saltwater pond. A 14×80 white tent waits nearby for your guests to dance the night away at your reception. If you’ve been dreaming of an outdoor ceremony, look no further, the grounds exude Southern charm and romance. For couples that want an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, this is the perfect wedding venue.
This location is one of the very few family owned and operated event venues in the Charleston area. They aspire to build relationships with couples as they begin their lives together while sharing a little piece of their own family with them. Wingate Place not only offers a stunning venue for special events, but also on site planning services. From full service planning to day-of coordination packages, they are there to help make your day perfect!
