The Proposal
High school sweethearts, Blake and Jamie, have always loved traveling together. They’ve visited many wonderful places, from Hawaii to Jamaica. Blake wanted to propose to Jamie during one of their vacations, so for Jamie’s birthday, they planned a cruise to Mexico. Blake decided to surprise Jamie the day after her birthday, suspecting that she might be expecting a proposal on her special day. As it is common for cruise photographers to be on the beach as passengers disembark, Jamie did not suspect anything when the cruise photographers asked to take a few photos of the couple on the beach. They had Jamie turn her back to Blake, and when she turned around, he was down on one knee, holding the most beautiful engagement ring she had ever seen. The pictures may not have turned out exactly as Jamie envisioned due to the many happy tears shed, but they knew this was just the beginning of their true fairytale.
In Preparation
Jamie has always loved weddings. Ever since she was a little girl, she dreamed of having a big wedding with an even bigger dress. She traveled with her mother and aunt to New York City to find the perfect gown. Inspired by TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, this girls’ trip was one for the books. From the start, Jamie and Blake knew they wanted to get married at The Kentucky Castle. They couldn’t think of a more perfect venue in Kentucky to make their magical day a reality. Every fairytale needs a little pixie dust, so they enlisted the help of Jen Guiler from Christina Burton Events. Jamie had a clear vision for the wedding day, while Blake had a simple request: “to marry my beautiful wife and to have the best bar and food!” Both visions came to life with Jen Guiler’s help. Blake, a Pharmacy Resident at the University of Kentucky, and Jamie, a medical student at the same university, knew they wouldn’t have much time to plan the wedding themselves. With Jen Guiler taking the lead, their fairytale wedding was brought to life, drawing inspiration from their beloved dog, Tyler, and Jamie’s favorite show, Bridgerton.
The Big Day
The ceremony and reception took place at The Kentucky Castle in Versailles, Kentucky. The enchanting venue provided the perfect setting for the couple’s nuptials. True love radiated throughout the day. Guests were dazzled by a string quartet and a custom champagne ice luge as they made their way to the magical reception tent. During the reception, Jamie took a special moment to dedicate her bouquet to her mother, expressing heartfelt gratitude for both her mother’s and father’s endless love and support. Their wedding was a day they’ll never forget, filled with an abundance of love, laughter, and dancing late into the night.
The Retreat
Blake and Jamie honeymooned on the island of St. Lucia at Sandals Regency La Toc. Both wanted a restful vacation filled with good food, drinks, and each other’s company. They decided to turn off their phones and live in the moment, soaking in the pure bliss of their first days as a married couple.
