The Proposal
Spencer and Jalynn first met in middle school, 6th & 8th grade. One day, while they were outside on the school hill, Spencer approached Jalynn for the first time and flirted with her. They officially began dating in 2015, during their Freshman and Junior years of high school. Their love blossomed as they walked the halls together.
However, before Spencer left for college to play baseball, he regretfully broke up with Jalynn on her front porch in the pouring rain. She was devastated and spent months listening to Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” album in her room. Despite their breakup, Jalynn and Spencer remained friends over the years. While trying to move on with their lives, they found it difficult to be around each other without feeling a deep connection.
Seven years after their breakup, Spencer finally opened up about his feelings for Jalynn. Their first love had turned into something much deeper, proving to be true love. They rekindled their relationship, and after a year of dating, it felt as if they had never been apart.
Jalynn had always hated the rain, associating it with the time Spencer broke her heart. However, on their first date after reconnecting, Spencer surprised her with a speaker in the pouring rain and promised to always slow dance in the rain to help them forget the past. A year later, Spencer proposed to Jalynn on the hillside of their middle school—the very spot where they first spoke, and of course, it was pouring rain once again.

In Preparation
As soon as they got engaged, Jalynn started creating Pinterest mood boards to visualize the couple’s dream wedding. Naturally, she was particularly excited about selecting decorations and finding the perfect wedding dress. She decided to have a longer engagement to plan a dream wedding without the stress of a tight timeline.
The couple visited Magnolia Plantation and fell in love with its modern farmhouse vibes, the magnolia trees, and the mansion. They wanted their wedding to have a timeless and classy feel, so they knew they needed an excellent photographer to match their style. Investing in a top-notch photographer was one of the couple’s best decisions, especially since Jalynn, being a type A personality, needed everything to be well organized. She created and printed timelines, checklists, and mood boards, compiling them all in a binder to ensure their vision was fulfilled throughout the wedding weekend.

The Big Day
On their wedding day, the couple woke up at the venue and found out that the power was out due to a storm that had passed through the night before. Since the venue had no cell phone service, they had to rush into town to call someone to fix the electricity. After an hour of getting hairand makeup done without power, the bride was relieved as the powerfinally returned.
Once the electricity was back, the getting ready process went seamlessly. Once her hair and makeup were complete, Jalynn felt an overwhelming excitement to marry her best friend. Things began to feel real when she saw Spencer through the window behind the magnolia tree, where the couple would have their first touch. They hadn’t spoken since the morning when the power was out and everyone was in a frenzy.
When Jalynn touched Spencer’s hand and heard his voice, she felt a rush of adrenaline and gratitude, knowing she would soon be his wife. The couple’s favorite part of the day was taking communion as their first act as a married couple. They took a moment to pray over one another and praise the Lord with their closest family and friends as they became one with Him.
Spencer and Jalynn felt God’s presence throughout our ceremony, and it was everything they had ever imagined for their big day. A strong contender for the best part of the celebration was jumping into the pool for their exit. Even their friends and family join them in the pool unexpectedly, creating a fun memory to cap off the wedding day.

The Retreat
Spencer and Jalynn were looking forward to a relaxing week after spending a year planning their wedding. After extensive research on all-inclusive resorts, they chose Breathless Resort and Spa in Punta Cana. During their stay, they enjoyed delicious food, had a couples massage on the beach, lounged by the pool, and watched incredible performances by the resort’s entertainment team. The couple also loved meeting other newlyweds, sharing their wedding experiences and photos with one another while creating lasting friendships.
