The Gulf Coast is a treasure of natural beauty. White sand dunes and beautiful blue water create an amazing backdrop for so many couples who come to its beaches to get married. The locals, however, have a different perspective from finding hidden beauty in sea oat-covered dunes and little canal waterways where they fished with grandparents.
The Audubon-inspired heron fabric, infused with nature and earth tones, propelled the creation of the styled shoot. The heron’s habitat is along the Gulf Coast. It’s a stately bird that has an air of graceful demeanor, just like the tablescape.
Celebrating the love of coastal elements against a backdrop of sun-kissed dunes and timeless sophistication. The tall sea grasses provide rich color options and textures that are incorporated throughout. The table is nestled among the dunes and adorned with loose, organic florals, complete with a mixture of seagrasses and native blooms.
The shoot took place at historic Ft. Pickens in Pensacola, Florida. The texture of the fort walls with the grasslands between them set the perfect backdrop for our couple to celebrate.
In creating an elegant coastal design, the focus is on simplicity and natural elements. Using handmade mulberry paper, wrapped around a favor box and sealed with a heron wax seal to give our guest favor boxes texture. The handmade mulberry paper is reminiscent of the sea oats and other grasses found among the dunes. Designers highlighted this aspect with a custom-designed Escort Wall. With the soft blue hues of the wall and the bud vases that doubled as place cards and favors, the guests would be able to find their place among the dunes. This special touch is not only helpful but also creates an atmosphere where guests feel welcome, allowing them to experience Southern hospitality at its finest.
The color palette draws from the fabric’s ethereal tones. The misty blue nods to the heron’s plumage and the ever-changing hues of the breathtaking Gulf Coast. The ochre incorporates the warmth of a captivating sunset that lingers at the end of a fall day. And finally, the seagrass brings warm, calming, grassy green tones with a touch of gold. Overall these colors bring a subtle sophistication to this coastal design.
