What happens when wedding planner, Sara Skinner of Scarlet Plan & Design’s favorite aunt and uncle celebrate their anniversary? They get a pretty gorgeous surprise!
Kurt and Jill have been married for 29 years and hadn’t had professional photos taken together in forever. We designed a gorgeous vow renewal styled shoot for them and surprised my amazing Aunt Jill the night before. We wanted her to get all her happy tears out of the way before getting her hair and makeup done, haha!
We chose the stunning and historic venue, Updike Farmstead in Princeton as our location. About the venue: Nestled in the heart of the Princeton Battlefield/Stony Brook Settlement Historic District, the six-acre site consists of a farmhouse, large barn, windmill, garden and several outbuildings. The beautifully restored late 18th/early 19th century farmhouse has museum exhibitions on the first floor, and a second floor space available to serve as a bridal suite. Originally constructed in 1892, the barn has been recently renovated to be transformed into a premier event space. The front lawn is a picturesque setting for ceremonies, and the back porch of the house, as well as the adjacent “backyard,” can enhance the flow of your event. Surrounded by the bucolic landscape of preserved farmland, Updike Farmstead is the perfect venue for the couple that is searching for the elegant, yet rustic, country feel.
We used Jill’s favorite colors, lavender, blush, pale blue, peach, and cream as our palette and went for an organic, elegant design concept. We also brought several of their original wedding items such as their champagne flutes, her garter, his cufflinks and much more as they enjoyed a gorgeous wedding anniversary.
