The Proposal
Abigail and Steven were in a long-distance relationship. She lived on the East Coast in Boston while he worked on the West Coast in Seattle. Steven decided to fly to Beantown and surprise Abigail for her birthday one weekend. She didn’t think he’d be able to visit, but when she was out for dinner with her closest girlfriends, he showed up at the restaurant and said there was no way he would have missed her birthday. The next morning, Steven had another surprise planned. He took Abigail on a private airplane ride to Portland, Maine, to see Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse. It’s the only caisson-style light station in the United States that visitors can walk up to. Once they arrived at the lighthouse, Steven got down on one knee and proposed! They then flew back to Boston to celebrate with friends and family.
In Preparation
Abigail and Steven moved to Charleston, South Carolina, with their two dogs as they started wedding planning. They would take their dogs to run and play at Riverfront Park and noticed the big white house nearby – The Admiral’s House. Also known as the house Noah built for Allie in the movie The Notebook. Little did they know, they were one of the first couples to book the venue for a wedding. Abigail worked very closely with all her vendors during the two-year planning process. The highlight, however, was shopping for the perfect dress with her mother, sister, aunt, and cousin. They all spent a full day at Alexandra’s Boutique in Fall River, Massachusetts, helping Abigail find her dream gown.
The Big Day
The morning of the wedding, Abigail and her bridesmaids got ready together upstairs at The Admiral’s House while the gentlemen enjoyed time outside in the warm sun. She and Steven hand wrote letters to one another and did a “first touch” before walking down the aisle. After Abigail’s first looks with her dad and bridesmaids, guests began arriving. They were greeted with glasses of champagne and then directed to their seats. The couple said “I do” in a stunning outdoor ceremony beneath a cape of Spanish Moss. The reception featured local Charleston oysters, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, a cigar bar, and exquisite design details. Abigail changed into a short, fun dress as the DJ rocked the dance floor.
The Retreat
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They loved driving through Yellowstone and enjoying the fall foliage and lack of crowds. Abigail and Steven explored the charming town square in the evenings and dined at the best restaurants. The highlight of their getaway was taking a helicopter ride over Grand Teton National Forest with FlyHeli and going on a guided horseback tour with Spring Creek Ranch.
