The Proposal
In March 2024, Lucas England proposed to Alexandra Harper in Rosemary Beach, Florida–her favorite place. Alexandra had a hunch it was happening (she basically planned it), but Lucas waited until the last night of the trip. Frustrated and suspicious, she tried to crack the hotel room safe, accidentally locking it. When they returned from a run, Lucas was panicking on the phone with hotel staff, trying to get the ring out. It took hours and a special team to drive in and reset the system. By then, the weather had turned—cold, rainy, and foggy. They drove around until they ended up in a dark, empty courtyard where Lucas, soaking wet, asked, “Is this pretty enough?” She said, “For the love of God, yes.” They celebrated at the only place open—a Mexican restaurant. Fittingly, on her custom cocktail napkins, she later confessed the safe incident to guests (but them not to tell Lucas until the next day).

In Preparation
As an only child, Alexandra’s relationship with her mother is one-of-a-kind—deep, fun, and unshakable. They’re the only mother-daughter duo (possibly in the nation) to win titles in the Miss USA system from the same state. “This wasn’t my wedding,” she joked, “it was hers.” She chose Mint Springs Farm without hesitation, having both attended and been to weddings there before meeting Lucas. Their wedding theme: Spring Garden Party meets Southern Elegance—think blush pink peonies, chandeliers, champagne, and a violinist/cellist. She collaborated with couture designer Jason Alexander on the gown, wore floral appliqués to nearly every wedding event, and leaned hard into the theme. Favorite touches included hand-tied pink ribbons on ceremony programs, custom cocktail names like “The Cradle Robber,” and childhood photos on table numbers. “I hand-painted this day from start to end,” she said—except the weather.

The Big Day
Severe storms hit: black skies, hail, tornado warnings, and emergency alerts. The Mint Springs team sprang into action—moving cocktail hour, drilling shut chapel doors, and running generators. Lightning even struck the bridal suite. But she rallied: “God forbid our wedding be anything other than fabulous.” The ceremony inside the glass-walled chapel was magical—string musicians played “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as her dad walked her down the aisle. The reception? “Wild.” Hot pink heart glasses, broken dress straps, barefoot dancing, and Lucas’s grandma on the dance floor at 93. Even the getaway car canceled—but the sparkler photos were perfect.

The Retreat
Despite everything, guests called it the best wedding they’d ever been to.“ I married my safe place,” she said. “And it rained the night we got engaged—what a story.” Looking back, she’s filled with gratitude—for her team, her faith, and the little Nolensville gap in the tornado map where God held them safe.
