The Proposal
The first time James brought Alexis home to his family’s farm in the countryside of Missouri, Alexis immediately knew that she wanted to get married there. The property sits atop rolling hills overlooking a beautiful lake and is surrounded by foliage and animals including horses and donkeys. James grew up with here, alongside his large family, and it quickly became a second home for Alexis as their relationship progressed. It was where James would later propose to Alexis.
In Preparation
Alexis and James started the planning process well over a year out. The couple opted for a classic church ceremony and a grand celebration at a family member’s private residence. The LZ Event Co team seamlessly curated a plan to host 200 guests on-site. The beautiful tented reception would be adorned with twinkling hanging lights to create an intimate atmosphere and a timeless aesthetic. The bride wanted everyone to feel as if they were dining under the stars. Alexis and James chose hues of blue, white, and green to pop against the the fall foliage and charming guest home turned barn. Including personal touches was important to them and decided to DIY their invitation suite as well as hand select each bridesmaid dress. The couple also wanted to include fun activities like a bounce house for the kids, lawn games, and ordered extra horse food so those interested could feed and pet the animals.
The Big Day
The morning of their big day, Alexis and James woke up on property with their wedding party. In the main house, Alexis and her girls took part in hair and-makeup while dressed in fun matching Rosé-All-Day pajama pants. After getting dressed with her step mom, Alexis had a special first look with her bridesmaids, as James and his groomsmen took photos together around the farm. Separately, the couple departed for the church as they opted out of doing a first look together, to truly enjoy the moment of seeing each other for the first time as Alexis walked down the aisle. After the ceremony, the newlyweds departed back to the farm to take photos with their loved ones before the remainder of the guests arrived. As guests were shuttled to the reception, they were greeted with cocktail hour right on the front lawn, complete with a bar, live musician, and games. Guests were then transported to a tented dinner adorned with hundreds of twinkle lights to replicate the night sky. After a three course meal was served, Alexis, James, and their guests enjoyed touching speeches and danced the night away inside the main barn as the DJ rocked the dance floor.
The Retreat
Alexis and James spent their first week married on St. Lucia Island at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort. When planning their honeymoon, they wanted a resort not only on a beach with beautiful views, but also with numerous activities to choose from everyday. While Alexis loves to layout and soak up the sun, her husband prefers to be active as much as possible so they needed a resort that would allow for both. Sugar Beach did just that and more; they did one activity a day and enjoyed some beach time before or after. Together, they enjoyed a mud bath and massage, walked through an active volcano site, went scuba diving for the first time, kayaked, and hiked one of the island’s mountains, but their most memorable activity was a sunset cruise on the last night of their getaway. It was the perfect way to end their vacation.
