The Proposal
Steve decided to propose at an event organized by Arielle’s business – all completely without her knowledge. That is, until her friend and business partner who were helping Steve plot the proposal, accidentally included Arielle in a group text she was not meant to see. Being the reporter she is, Arielle started digging and eventually got to the bottom of it. Steve was proposing. True, the surprise was ruined but the heads up gave her a chance to find a gown worthy of the moment (worth it!). Although she sort of knew it was coming, that didn’t dull the shine of that new rock or the love this couple will share for years to come.
In Preparation
Planning was done mostly by Arielle who was living at Alabama at the time. She traveled to Miami twice for prepping purposes such as venue visits and meeting with her planner for tablescaping. A planner was a must because of the distance. To cut down on the stress of planning the bride and groom decided to forgo a wedding party and the bride’s friends instead all wore a similar color for a few pictures!
The Big Day
Arielle and Steve were married in a tropical affair that was more day party than traditional wedding, with no bridal party and attention given to everyone having a good time. Guests arrived at 11am for the vows that were delivered in both Creole and English. Attendee were then treated to a Haitian-inspired cocktail hour. The reception featured the unique King Protea on each table and guests dined on brunch favorites. During dinner, one of the couples college pals performed his hip-hop version of Daniel Caesar’s “Get You.” Once the plates were cleared guests couldn’t get on the dance floor fast enough and there was barely a soul sitting during the dancing portion of the reception.
The Retreat
The couple honeymooned in their dream destination, The Maldives. Two days after they said “I do”, the bride and groom took off for a more than 24 hour journey to the Indian Ocean. They stayed at Adaaran Prestige Water Villas which consists of just 11 overwater bungalows. The service was spectacular and the food divine. Their days were spent relaxing by the ocean, walking off their deck straight into the ocean to snorkel, getting massages and sailing.
