The Proposal

Ashley celebrated her thirty-second birthday on August 6, 2022 at an extravagant bash hosted by her parents. As the evening came to a close, Ashley’s siblings gave her a heartwarming toast. While they were talking to guests about what an incredible sister Ashley is, Jamaal got down on one knee. Guests began clapping and Jamaal told Ashley that he would love to spend the rest of his life with her. Sharing such a special moment with their friends and family made the occasion even more special.

In Preparation

The couple knew they didn’t want a long engagement, so they decided to plan two weddings in eight short months. First, a traditional Nigerian ceremony would be held and then an American one. Their consultant, Unique Events by Shollah, made preparing for two events possible! She made the process incredibly enjoyable and fun. The most important element was that they were creating a once-in-a lifetime experience for their guests. Once the venue was selected, everything else fell into place. Between virtual meetings after work, to tastings, fittings for multiple outfits, and routine vendor calls, Ashley always left feeling grateful and excited for the big day.

The Big Day

Put simply, the Nigerian wedding was everything that Ashley and Jamaal had ever dreamed of and more. The day was full of color and life from Ashley’s bright getting ready robe, to the traditional coral beads she wore during the ceremony, to the vibrant reception decor that transformed the venue from a regular meeting space to a beautiful Nigerian village. Shollah brought Ashley and her mom’s vision to life in the most incredible way. Highlights included the breaking of the kolanut, entertaining colorful Igbo dancers, authentic Nigerian food, a money spray, and more. The couple’s favorite part was when they received the blessing of their
marriage by Ashley’s fathers during the wine-carrying ceremony.
