The Proposal
Marcus and Ashley met in 2006, while attending the University of Memphis. After a year of courtship, still students at the university, they decided to have a courthouse ceremony. After 10 years of marital bliss, career advancements, and a beautiful daughter, the couple decided to finally have the wedding of their dreams.
In Preparation
After college, Ashley earned an internship with a well-established event planner. Therefore, she knew which vendors she wanted to work with for their #washingTEN vow renewal. Although Ashley was the planner, amazing vendors were prepared for the day, ensuring that the couple can be the perfect bride/groom for their perfect day!
Ashley always knew that Annesdale Mansion was the location for their event. With its grand parlor, spiral staircase and marble entryway, as well as seven and a half acres of elegant lawns and gardens, Annesdale would be an unforgettable setting for their vow renewal.
The couple also knew to work with Studio 1524 for floral and designs. Olivia Bursey Ward, owner, is known for putting together a great selection of luxury rentals that’s beyond the ordinary. Olivia’s ultimate goal is to provide an unforgettable experience for the couple and their guests, and she did just that.
The Big Day
After hours of prepping with Tia Jennings, local makeup artist; manicure and pedicures with Karneisha Patton, Ashley and Marcus had their first look. It was perfect, seeing Marcus in his Jos A. Banks tuxedo; Ashley in her gown by Maggie Sottero. The couple and wedding party then had a great photo shoot, thanks to Camille Leigh Photography.
As guest were greeted by valet, they enjoyed the nontraditional flow of cocktail hour being first. The couple wanted to make sure that all loved ones were present for the ceremony. After the garden ceremony, everyone went inside the mansion for dinner. It was then followed by their afterparty, with Demarkis Edwards “DJ Swagg” under the stars, with an array of dessert food trucks (MemPops and Delish Desserts). The Mayweather/McGregor fight was also featured. The event was also captured beautifully by Allen Gillespie, cinematographer.
The Retreat
The couple planned to honeymoon in St. Lucia after the wedding, but due to Hurricane Irma, they were forced to put off their honeymoon for better weather. In the words of the Bride, “It was no big deal, we have celebrated many honeymoons since year one”.
