The Proposal
As luck would have it, Brooke and Joe met at a bar. They both knew instantly that they would spend the rest of their lives together. Seven years later, Joe had a ring in hand (for months!) and the blessing of Brooke’s dad. Running late for their dinner reservation, Brooke ran to grab her wallet. She was shocked to find Joe on a knee. Privately and perfectly, he asked her to marry him. After dinner, the newly engaged couple visited the bar where they first met and toasted to their future together. The following day, friends gathered to celebrate the future McNamara’s.
In Preparation
When it came to picking a wedding date, the couple had some clear criteria. They agreed not to host a wedding during football season or during a hot month. Joe, an avid outdoorsman, insisted they avoided hunting season. And with that, they landed on March 4, 2023. Knowing they would need someone to help them with all the little details, they enlisted the help of their friend Gavin of Gavin Snyder Events to coordinate their dream wedding. Over happy hour, Brooke shared her vision of a blue and white soiree complete with ginger jars and chinoiserie accents. Over the next several months, the couple watched ideas turn into reality. Exactly one month before their wedding, the couple followed Southern tradition and buried a bottle of bourbon in their yard in hopes of great weather on their big day and good fortune in their marriage.
The Big Day
Brooke and Joe said, “I do,” just as the sun was setting during a beautiful rooftop ceremony adorned with lavish florals and chinoiserie garden stools. As the bride walked down the aisle, the cape of her Eva Lendel gown flowed dramatically and beautifully behind her. Brooke accessorized with an aquamarine necklace belonging to her late grandmother and diamond earrings and bracelets from Stephanie Gottlieb. After the nuptials, guests enjoyed champagne and appetizers while a string trio played. The indoor reception at The Fifth at The Faulkner featured beautiful flowers in hundreds of ginger jars from Brooke’s personal collection. Antique blue and white lamps lit up a bar displaying custom napkins and koozies. As gourmet bites and libations were served, family and friends danced to Mike Rob and the 601 band. At the end of the night, Joe’s “groom’s cake” was served—fried rice in mini take-out boxes!
The Retreat
The newlyweds traveled to Bali, Indonesia, for a truly unforgettable honeymoon. They began their trip on the beaches of the Indian Ocean at the Grand Hyatt Bali. After several days of incredible scenery and cuisine, they retreated to the tranquil Alilia resort in the jungles of Ubud. Brooke and Joe enjoyed unparalleled experiences of culture, adventure, and luxury that they will remember forever.
