The Proposal

Carlos Adyan is the host of the NBCUniversal Telemundo show En Casa Con Telemundo and co-proprietor of restaurant A Fuego Lento. Carlos Quintanilla is the vice president of original content for Sony Pictures Television. The couple first met in 2020 through a mutual friend and then reconnected a year later while working for the same company. They officially began dating in 2022.
In June 2023, the couple flew to Paris to attend a friend’s wedding. While in Paris, Quintanilla planned a Seine River Cruise for them to have dinner on. Right as the cruise was passing the Eiffel Tower, Quintanilla got down on one knee, pulled out a gorgeous Tiffany ring and asked Adyan to marry him. With cheers, tears, and smiles from everyone on board and with Paris as their witness, Adyan said yes and so began the journey to their highly anticipated special day.

In Preparation

From the minute Carlos and Carlos were engaged, their hearts were set on a destination wedding. Leading very busy lives, they wanted their wedding to feel like a vacation and an escape from all the hustle and bustle of Miami, where they currently reside. In planning for their special day, they couple considered countless options, everywhere from Quintanilla’s hometown of Mexico City and Adyan’s in Puerto Rico to the rural mountains of Guatemala. None had that magical quality they were looking for until they stumbled upon Mexico’s best kept secret, San Miguel de Allende, by accident. In looking for the perfect venue, close friends of theirs who live in San Miguel, suggested Adyan and Quintanilla come visit
and stay with them on their ranch. The couple spent two weeks over Christmas 2023 immersing themselves in the city’s breathtaking art and culinary scene but what truly won them over was that ranch. And so, forgoing a traditional venue, Carlos and Carlos decided there was no better place to begin the next phase of their lives than the ranch itself.

Contrasting the city’s bright color palette of pinks, blues, and pastels, the couple sought a sleek and classic aesthetic that highlighted the ranch’s breathtaking lake views, and so they opted to stick to whites and greens, letting the ranch be the design.

To bring their vision to life, the coupled hired two wedding planners, Deisa Rivera from Puerto Rico who they met while initially looking at venues and perfectly captured their style for this special day; and Angie Precoma, based in San Miguel who was their boots on the ground. Deisa handled vision and production, while Angie handled any on-site needs and inspections. Since the venue is not traditionally set up to host
events like weddings the couple had to bring in everything including the stage, dance floor, tables, chairs, and more, so having two planners was essential.

The Big Day

Wedding Weekend:
Flash forward to May 2024, Carlos and Carlos arrive to San Miguel de Allende the Thursday before the big day, eagerly awaiting the arrival of their friends and a family to kick-off celebrations. The couple and all their guests stayed at one of the city’s most sought-after resorts, Live Aqua San Miguel de Allende. The luxury 5-star hotel was home to all their weekend celebrations including a lively welcome cocktail party on Friday night at the property’s rooftop. The resort, known for pulling out all the stops for their wedding parties boasts beautiful bride and groom suites with private hot tubs, patios, and unmatched mountain views for the couple to enjoy. Adyan also filmed a special segment of his show En Casa Con
Telemundo at the property leading up to the big day. Prior to the welcome party, Adyan and Quintanilla treated their guests to a special surprise, a
callejoneada, a traditional processional through the streets of San Miguel accompanied by music, mariachis, and mojigangas – large puppets representative of the couple.

Wedding Day:

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, Carlos and Carlos were married at Rancho Las Fincas in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The 400-person affair was a celebration of love, family and culture. The couple exchanged their heartfelt vows on a platform over the ranch’s lake because they feel water moves energy. Wedding guests were treated to musical stylings of the mariachi band, Los Campos, signature drinks that honored both men’s  home countries – mezcalitas and margaritas for Mexico, and a piña colada with Flor de Caña rum for Puerto Rico; and take home mezcalita drink sets. The food was catered by  Banquetes Mediterráneo , and the wedding cake, a spicy tres leches paid homage to Adyan’s Puerto Rican heritage.

Following the reception, Carlos and Carlos closed out the lively affair with an hora loca, (crazy hour), a tradition in many Latin American countries in which the final hour of the party is made livelier with additional entertainment. For their hora loca, the couple brought out props like sombreros and mini flags of Puerto Rico and Mexico and late-night snacks of chilaquiles, tacos, and elote.

The Retreat

Following the enchanting ceremony, Carlos and Carlos honeymooned in mid-June in Curaçao. This island destination had always intrigued them due to its natural beauty and vibrant culture. Growing up on an island, Carlos felt a natural connection to other island destinations. Both having worked in television, and Carlos being a long-time presenter of the Miss Universe pageants for Telemundo, what truly put Curaçao on the map for them was Gabriela Dos Ramos, Miss Curaçao 2022, and her remarkable achievement of making it to the Top 5 in the Miss Universe pageant the same year. Her success led them to research the island, and not long after, it was on their bucket list.

The couple stayed at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort, a six-acre oceanfront property offering the perfect blend of active adventure and premium relaxation, with direct beach access, two pools, four dining concepts, and more. They discovered the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort while researching the island’s top places for romance and honeymoon stays. It stood out immediately with its stunning views and oceanfront location, featuring direct beach access, which isn’t as common in Curaçao. Its location only five minutes from Curaçao’s capital, Willemstad, made it perfect for exploring. The resort’s extensive amenities, such as two swimming pools and a Goby Divers outpost right on the property, also made it an oasis. Their itinerary included a secluded romantic dinner on the beach, exploring the island’s awe-inducing marine life with on property dives, and immersing in the vibrant nightlife and colorful scenes of Willemstad.
