The Proposal
Following a pre-engagement couples class, Carly suspected any day that J.Paul would propose. When he invited Carly to his family’s ranch for a Christmas Party – the place she grew to know and love J. Paul and his family, she had an inkling it would happen there. When they arrived at the ranch, J.Paul drove around the backside towards a pond and twinkling lights in the distance. As they got closer, Carly noticed the dock was lit up with candles. With the sun setting over the water, J.Paul took Carly’s hand, walked her to the dock, said the sweetest words, and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. With teary eyes, Carly said yes! The newly engaged couple popped a bottle of bubbly and walked to the main house, where a surprise engagement party greeted them.
In Preparation
Timeless, elegant, and unique were all the elements Carly had dreamed of for their wedding day. After endless movie watching and magazine flipping, Carly envisioned a blend of a Tuscan-styled, wine country affair. And, after visiting venue after venue, Carly discovered the Weinberg at Wixon Valley and instantly knew it was the perfect location. Next, they met their wedding coordinator, Jennifer of Perfectly Planned Events, who helped finalize decisions. And a family friend, Karen, from Curly Willow Botanicals, helped create breathtaking floral designs.
The Big Day
Carly and J.Paul spent a relaxing morning preparing with friends. After the morning festivities, Carly and her father met and rehearsed the day’s events. Carly’s family adores the movie Mamma Mia, so it was only fitting that Carly walked down the aisle to the piano instrumental of “Slipping Through My Fingers” in this venue, similar to the movie. J.Paul shed a few tears while watching his bride walk towards him. The groom’s uncle officiated the ceremony, while the grandfathers’ offered opening and closing prayers. Following the nuptials, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour featuring their signature drink, the Chilton. A lemony spirit with nostalgic ties to their college town. A reception followed with delicious food, beautiful toasts, and a surprise dance coordinated by the couple’s siblings. The couple shared a last dance to “Tennessee Whiskey,” led by their fantastic band, The Royal Dukes. The newlyweds departed the reception through a festive tunnel of sparklers before leaving in a vintage Rolls Royce.
The Retreat
The couple decided on a mini-moon to the Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, Texas. Greeted and treated by the most gracious staff, Carly and J.Paul enjoyed incredible food, spirits, and shopping at the Domain via a Mercedes convertible. They even got to meet their favorite comedian, Heather McMahan, a guest at the resort. A perfect first weekend together as husband and wife.
