The Proposal
Caroline and Conner first met during their freshman year of college. Most weekends, the couple would drive to the mountains together, staying until it was late. One day, Conner took Caroline on a hike to Triple Falls in Dupont State Forest. There, he told Caroline he loved her for the first time. Five years later, Conner took Caroline to the exact spot and proposed with a surprise picnic. Caroline’s best friend was there to capture the joyful moments on film.
In Preparation
Caroline and Conner’s wedding preparation was hectic, as the couple are both high school teachers and working on their master’s degrees. It was important to Caroline and Conner that they honor their family and friends at the wedding, making them an integral part of their special day. Two of Caroline’s students played the clarinet as guests were being seated; her aunt played piano; and one of the couple’s close friends was the DJ. Caroline’s cousin works at a bakery and decorated their wedding cake. The couple’s best friends even helped build the dance floor and decorate the reception venue. Caroline’s great aunts and grandmother helped throw her a “flower shower,” where her bridesmaids and relatives got together to assemble the bouquets and arrangements.
The Big Day
Surrounded by friends and family, Caroline Cooley and Conner Francis were married on June 1, 2024, at the Central United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In the morning, Caroline and her bridesmaids grabbed coffee and pastries at their reception venue, the Hub City Farmers Market, before beginning to get ready. During the ceremony, Caroline and Conner took a moment with their families to say a prayer before they said their vows. After the ceremony, the reception was a huge party with bluegrass music and plenty of dancing. The newlyweds were sent off with rose petals and a surprise getaway car.
The Retreat
Caroline and Conner left three days after their wedding to visit with friends and family before beginning their honeymoon. They flew to Jamaica for nine days and stayed at the Couples Resort on Tower Isle. The newlyweds spent their time together, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, and, most importantly, relaxing on the beach. After a semester of working full time, going to school, and planning for their wedding, Caroline and Conner were ready to relax. They look forward to spending their future summers exploring beautiful places like Jamaica.
