The Proposal
It was the start of Carolyn and Josie’s seventh anniversary weekend, but still a typical Friday evening. Just like hundreds before, they kicked it off by walking their dog, Millie, into town for coffee (and her puppuccino, of course). Josie had planned to propose at the same bench where the trio always stopped. He didn’t. He chickened out. As they headed back home, Millie took them a different route and landed them underneath a canopy of Cherry Blossom trees. It was there that Josie got his groove back and popped the question! It wasn’t extravagant, but it felt intimate and close to home.

In Preparation
Carolyn’s Grandma in South Carolina would soon turn 96, so the couple knew they would make way South to host the wedding. As Carolyn and Josie share a love for vintage homes and southern vibes, historic Georgetown was the perfect find. As a destination wedding, the picturesque small town afforded a sweet short getaway where guests could stroll from their hotel along the harbor boardwalk and pop into local shops and restaurants. The weekend kicked off with a welcome happy hour hosted by the couple at The George Hotel, followed by a gathering at the local spot for live music and libations! The night served as the perfect tailgate for the celebrations to follow.

The Big Day
Imagine an outdoor setting by a river, surrounded by lush grass and a cocktail-inspired atmosphere. The neutral tones of the floral arrangements and decor beautifully complemented the organic surroundings of live oak trees on the waterfront lawn of the historic Kaminski House. Guests enjoyed a southern-style small bites menu featuring fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, and shrimp and grits.
Carolyn, Josie, and, of course, Millie greeted their friends and family before the ceremony, offering sweet tea, lemonade, lawn games, and charming southern hats for the celebration. Although Gram sadly passed away before the big day, the perfect weather and love in the air served as a reminder of her presence, blessing the wedding with warmth and joy.

The Retreat
The couple headed to Savannah after the wedding for a relaxing, low-key “mini-moon.” The newlyweds stayed in a charming former carriage house, gifted by Josie’s aunt. They spent the next few days taking in the last of the southern scenery. Carolyn and Josie look forward to sharing an extended honeymoon/first wedding anniversary this Fall.
