The Proposal

Chesney actually had given Joshua a “do” and “do not” list regarding the ring and proposal guidelines. She wanted something private and intimate for just the two of them. They took a holiday vacation down to Corolla at the Outer Banks, and planned to go view the sunset prior to dinner off the dock in the neighborhood they were staying in. It was super overcast so they didn’t see a sunset at all. Chesney had a feeling it was going to happen then. She got a whole speech from Josh that was the perfect length and everything. Her favorite part was the post-engagement debrief where she finally got to learn everything that went into planning and the obstacles that made it difficult.

In Preparation

Chesney wanted to ensure that every detail was carefully prepared ahead of the big day. One of the toughest parts of planning was figuring out what she and Josh truly liked and didn’t like — and they didn’t always get it right on the first try. To keep everything organized, Chesney meticulously packed and labeled boxes with clear instructions to ensure the day ran smoothly. Balancing a budget-friendly approach with the “you only get married once” mindset was challenging, but they found a way to make it work.

For Chesney and Josh, choosing the right vendors turned out to be the most important aspect of the planning process. Great vendors not only made everything easier but also helped bring their vision to life. A last-minute decision to have Josh’s dad officiate the ceremony became one of the most special moments of the day. Chesney was initially nervous about how it would go, but his heartfelt speech exceeded all expectations, and guests still compliment them on it to this day.

The Big Day

As someone who didn’t love being the center of attention, Chesney felt anxious throughout the day. Having her closest girlfriends by her side that morning, along with a hair and makeup team she truly loved and felt comfortable with, helped her feel more at ease. The day flew by so quickly that she almost forgot to put on her veil — managing to slip it on just 30 seconds before walking down the aisle!

During their first dance, Chesney and Josh shared a quiet moment together, agreeing that the hardest part of the day was finally behind them, and they could now enjoy the celebration. Their dance became even more special when they invited Josh’s parents to join them halfway through, a meaningful tribute as the couple’s wedding day also marked Josh’s parents’ anniversary. By the end of the night, Chesney and Josh were sad the celebration had come to an end but ready to head home after such a long, emotional, and unforgettable day — and prepare for the busy one that awaited them next.

The Retreat

October was a whirlwind wedding month for Chesney and Josh! Just seven days after their own wedding, Josh was the best man in another one, which meant they were headed straight to the airport at 5 a.m. the morning after their celebration. Their honeymoon took them to Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where they could finally relax and enjoy some well-earned downtime.

Opting for an all-inclusive resort was the perfect choice for the couple after months of meticulous planning and budgeting. It was a huge relief to not have to worry about a single detail for an entire week. They spent their days soaking up the sun, enjoying incredible food, and even experienced their first couples massage, which turned out to be a highlight of the trip. It was the perfect way to unwind and savor their first week as newlyweds.
