The Proposal
Erin and Filip’s fairytale romance began in Nashville, Tennessee, where they met and currently reside. Erin is a recording artist, and Filip is a left-winger for the Nashville Predators NHL team. Filip proposed to Erin late one evening after returning from dinner in Erin’s hometown in south Georgia. It was a stormy evening, the kind of rain where the skies opened up, and they sprinted from the car and up the porch steps of Erin’s parents’ home. Fortunately, it’s Erin’s favorite weather, and Filip knew this was the perfect setting to ask Erin to be his wife. With the rain falling and clouds thundering, Filip dropped to one knee and proposed. Erin’s entire family (her parents, four siblings, two siblings-in-law, three nephews, and four nieces) watched through the windows inside the house. Erin later learned that Filip had asked her father’s permission the night before, which Filip knew was important to Erin. Erin will forever cherish Filip’s thoughtfulness in planning such a fitting and loving proposal.
In Preparation
The couple chose to marry at the bride’s family’s estate in La Guerche-sur-l’Aubois, France.
Erin cherished her memories of growing up at Dunderry Castle, which held historically noble Irish roots. Erin and Filip felt the European destination was perfect and easily accessible for Filip’s Swedish family. Erin, one of five children, was the first to plan a wedding there, which meant a tremendous effort was needed to prepare the property for a big celebration. Erin’s mother graciously went to France a couple of months early to prepare the Castle. Once the venue was determined, Erin began searching for her dream dress. After trying on several dresses, she felt each was missing something and began to lose hope of finding a gown. Erin decided to design her dress with the amazing Winnie Couture team in Nashville, who brought her dream dress to life.
The Big Day
The wedding festivities at Dunderry Castle began days earlier when the O’Sullivan’s hosted 30
family members for the week leading up to the festivities. The weather was picture perfect as the
bagpipes began playing “O’Sullivan’s March” as the wedding party proceeded from the family’s
chapel inside the castle to the front steps. The formal reception was held in a clear top tent filled with twinkling lights and crystal chandeliers, with the castle as the backdrop. All the stationary, from the invitations to the menu cards, were branded with a gold foil sketch of Dunderry Castle, drawn by the bride’s sister, Jennifer. Guests were treated to a five-course meal followed by all-night dancing and epic fireworks over the castle set to a playlist that Erin and Filip made themselves! Guests traveled from Sweden, Canada, Ireland, England, Germany, France, Lithuania, Norway, and Barbados, who all partied until six o’clock in the morning.
The Retreat
The newlyweds traveled to Dubai for a few days before visiting the Maldives. They found Dubai exciting and loved exploring the big city. They slowed down and relaxed in the Maldives, exactly how they wanted to spend the rest of their honeymoon. Erin and Filip stayed at the luxurious and award-winning One & Only Reethi Rah Resort, enjoying world-class hospitality, gourmet food, tennis lessons, swimming, scuba diving, and soaking up every minute of alone time together. So fabulous was their experience that Erin and Filip are planning to return to this slice of paradise for a future anniversary.
