The Proposal

On a mild March morning, Jessica and Hank enjoyed a leisurely coffee and stroll through the North Carolina Museum of Art—one of their favorite spots in Raleigh. As they walked through the sculpture garden, they paused by the reflecting pool, where Hank surprised Jessica by getting down on one knee. Though she had an idea the proposal was coming, having gone ring shopping the month before, Hank managed to throw her off by telling her the ring hadn’t arrived yet. The moment was a joyful surprise, and Jessica was elated to say yes.

In Preparation

With an expected guest list of 265, the couple chose Donovan Manor for its spacious indoor reception area. As one of the venue’s very first weddings, it provided a beautiful backdrop for their celebration. Planning moved quickly, with just seven months between their March engagement and their October wedding. Amid the excitement, Jessica also celebrated her bachelorette party in September with a trip to Charleston, South Carolina.

The Big Day

Jessica and Hank exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC, on Friday, October 18, 2024. The following day, they hosted a larger celebration with family and friends. Their outdoor ceremony took place in Donovan Manor’s stunning rose garden, followed by a lively reception in the venue’s grand hall. They incorporated elements of their heritage throughout the day, honoring Jessica’s Korean roots with a traditional hanbok and Hank’s Vietnamese culture with an ao dai. Guests also enjoyed a selection of Korean and Vietnamese cuisine, making the celebration both personal and meaningful.

The Retreat

To escape the impending North Carolina winter, the couple jetted off to Bora Bora, French Polynesia, for a dream honeymoon at the St. Regis Bora Bora resort. Staying in an overwater bungalow, they embraced adventure—snorkeling with sharks and manta rays, riding jet skis and ATVs, and indulging in exquisite island cuisine. With their shared love for activity, it was the perfect getaway, allowing them to dive straight into the crystal-clear waters from their bungalow and create unforgettable memories together.
